South or North of Rte 9?

I don't recall any stoppages when I last rode there this summer, but with rural roads that sort of thing can change week to week what with washouts and the like.

I have long wanted to suggest a change. Is the start now at the Shell station on Rte 8 (Winsted) or still down on Rte 44? Anyway, from there go up Rte 8 to just past the federal boat launch. Which could/should also be the Start as there are public bathroom facilties plus a large public parking lot for trailers, and it's closer to the MA line but still in CT.

Just a hundred yards or so north of the boat launch, take the dirt road on the left, work your way over to (IIRC) Prock Rd. and cross the CT/MA line on a maintained dirt road that isn't mapped as a through road on some GPS units and some maps. When you come out onto pavement, resume the old route. (This also gives the potential for heroes on small bikes to use Simon's Pond Rd. and meet up with their big bike buddies later on the pavement.)

It does go through there. Short section of old paved road that has little streams running over it and foliage you may have to duck under

    Hey Frank

That road has some big pine trees across. I couldn't fit under with my 800. You can pick up the rest of the TMT just past on RT 9

Also the next section North you will see Stage Rd looks like it doesn't go through but it does and no obstacles.

I was wondering if there was an aviation radio installation on a hilltop and the access to it had been "FAA Road".

Of course in the next 9 months one of you ambassador's of the great state of Massachusetts, home of famous patriots like John Adams, Samuel Adams, Clara Barton, F.Lee Baily and so on...........might, in the name of hospitality and tourism, take a chain saw on River Rd and clear the way for weary travelers.

I'm surprised nobody did it already. Around my (rural) neighborhood stuff like that gets cleared by resdients.

some guys from the Berkshire Trail Riders will be going out soon to start setting the route for our upcoming Berkshire Big Adventure, which is a 2 day event this year. We will be starting in our trucks and always have a saw in the back. If we are anywhere near there, I will be sure we give it the old heave ho.

The BBA was started about 10 years ago by Viverid.

it doesn't look like much in my photo but but the food was good and they made space for an unexpected group of around 10 dirty riders. The menus are a fun read too. I think we had a mix of lunch / breakfast items when we stopped there and everyone had good reviews of their food, price and service..

Don't forget here if you knock your spine out of line on some of the rough roads.

free adjustments for ADV riders passing through !
