How I made the gate? You give me way too much credit. I hired a fence company. They did a great job, nice fence, good looking, solid construction. One of their guys welded it up in the backyard.

I know you asked about that before - I promise I'll go get some closeup pics to give you an idea about how it was done. I went out there once to do that and couldn't get meaningful shots, but I'll give it another go.

I almost forgot - the piece de resistance.

See the hole in the unfinished board in the wall behind the GS, just above and to the right of the mirror?

Thanks. It's a souvenir I picked up in Mexico after climbing Popocateptl. Ventanilla Route. Sadly, my climbing days are long past.

Thanks for the comments. I thought I'd never get here, and I learned about cost overruns - mainly change orders and upgrades of my own doing. But it was worth it.

On order - an under-counter fridge for the beer and a wall mount A/C unit. That's it. I swear.

    Except maybe a lift.

SWEET SHOP!!! I started putting up those wall panels in my garage but I now see I need to take it up about 10 levels...:lol3

So What kind of floor tiles are those?

    Thanks. I love my shop.

The floor tiles are RaceDeck from Snaplock Industries. I treated the floor with RadonSeal first. It's a 19' x 19' space, a 5 gallon bucket was $150 delivered and there was enough to coat the floor and some external cement on the pad. The tiles were $1,197, delivered and were a "snap" to install.

garagejournal.com has multiple threads debating the virtues of epoxy vs. ceramic or porcelain tiles vs. plastic tiles.

The slatboard is on two walls. It took 11 panels, 4'x8' 3/4" thick, $500. It's great, I can hang stuff anywhere.

I thought that it might be RaceDeck. I really like the yellow line wandering through the floor. I have one wall done in slat board and I was thinking of doing the rest of the walls. After seeing how you did yours I showed the wifey the pictures of your shop and got the approval to do something like that. All I have to do is have a dedicated spot for the kayak and the scooter. Done deal honey!!!

You've inspired me to take my garage to the next level... Thanks!! :clap

That is NOT a man castle!

    Nope.

    That is an entire KINGDOM!!!!!!

I have just spent hours and hours on Garage Journal and I really like many of the ideas.

While I love the big money builds, I appreciate the small, one car size garage threads since that is what I have.

My entire house is only 24' x 24'...

I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the inside :clap

Be careful designing the floor. I planned it assuming it was 20' x 20', but it is really 19'3" x 19'5". It changed the design. The wandering yellow line is actually interlocking rectangles.

I'd be curious to see how you hang your kayak. I've been debating various systems. Looking for simplicity.

I am curious about the RaceDeck. Do the tiles snap together tight enough to form a water tight seal? Or would spills such as oil or water end up seeping under the tile? I really like the look of the floor.

Snug, and some water will run off, but definitely not water tight.
