Any thought to an add-on storage container that will fit on the inside of the left side (between the rack and the rear tire, opposite the muffler)? I have an '09 KLR 650. Seems like a good place for tent pole storage, tools, etc. I could make something out of 3" PVC but that's heavy and hokey. An aluminum can of some sort strapped to the rack with hose clamps?
If you can pick up a fly-rod case for a travel rod, they tend to be about 3" in diameter by 24" long. The best ones have a brass cap and an o-ring. They are not cheap! There are some nice welding rod cases available at Merriam-Graves. Much cheaper.

Whats convenient is the design allows clearance to access the air filter and battery without rack removal. The racks are slim enough to allow a 2-up rider to still use the pegs without interference. Lots of thought and design went into these racks and it shows!
Attach soft luggage like the Wolfman Expedition Dry Saddlebags or the new Nelson-Rigg Adventure Dry Saddlebags easily. Pelican cases or aluminum boxes can be fitted too.
I am interested in these luggage racks but would like to see how people are mounting their hard luggage to them. Like the Pelicans, or Happy Trails. Is there any photo's or tutorials on how to mount to these? Also is there any way to make the mounts quick release?
Hey lacofdfireman, some my customers have have used the Happy Trails Pannier Mount Kit MK750-A with great results. Sorry, I don't have tutorials for them, but I think it would be pretty straight forward once you have all the pieces. They have instructions you can download on their site. They're made to use with any racks that are made of 3/4" tubing. I would mount the bottom pucks first, and then the tops. You could just drill right through the pucks and into the side case for perfect alignment. Let me know if you need any more info, I'm happy to help in any way I can. Thanks, Tom
