    Why exclude race bikes? I have worked on race and championship winning airhead engines that I would love to have in a street bike. A well set up race engine will work perfectly for a street bike. Why wouldn't it?

    I think a chart with regular cam card specs of all the cams would be more useful. Timing with a lift check point, lift, and the lobe center to lobe center degrees.

    I am just trying to help. I don't think you know what race bikes really get at all. As it is, I am afraid this poll will be about like your valve poll. Useful answers require the right questions but then the right questions takes some experience with the topic.

    If you put a headlight on it and drive it on the street, it's a street bike. You could certainly build an engine you might not want to drive in city traffic.

    I crank the throttle open sometimes and I feel I'm getting down but no way am I able to ride as fast as I did 20 years ago. Still I like the feel of the power band and want my bike to perform. Airheads are still raced but they are no longer competitive against the Fast Boys. On the Belt Way I will still race the Fat Boys (usually on a GSXR) The ole R90 can hang till they start splitting lanes.

    Here's the reality of racing Airheads for you. Check out the action at about .30;

    That's funny! All the way down that straight I was thinking who in their right mind would be short shifting an airhead at 6000 rpm on a race track? Mr. Turtle? That's not my reality at all. Even fast bikes have to be ridden. Let alone slow ones!

    You certainly could build an engine that you wouldn't want to ride in city traffic or much anywhere else. A LOT of people do that to their stock engines before they ever build anything regarding the engine itself by messing with the airboxes and killing their midrange. Tons of strong running race engines have way more right off idle power and would be tons more fun to ride in city traffic than that ugly scenario.

    I put this Andrews cam in my GSPD with good results. It's either a #2 or #3, can't recall exactly. The paperwork is burried somewhere in the basement of my "other place".

    It's mated to stock lifters, pushrods, rockers and springs and seems to work fine, but I rarely rev it past 6500 rpms. Mostly just enjoy the strong midrange.

    I should point out the top end uses 1050cc Venolias and '77 RS heads modded for 12:1 compression (measured)... and it runs fine on single plugs. :brow When I get that bike back together it'll be dual plugged and I'll put it on the dyno to get some hard numbers. In the mean time I can tell you it's faster than an R1150GS.

    Baseline dyno run on a Slightly modified R100/7. The 2 lines show the difference between standard silencers and a set of Jim Cray's.

    Base run dyno run on r90/6, almost standard with high compression pistons. This bike has been fitted with 320 cam from motoren Israel, comparison dyno run will be made when engine run in.

    Another earlier Jim Cray dyno showing the results of his standard stage 1 tuning package on a euro 82 RS engine.

    This does not include camshaft changes, just porting, dual plugging, induction and squish band work. Note the very much fatter torque curve.
