Anybody have any Beta on the condition of the road south of San Felipe and out past Coco's to the highway? Last I was there, January, 2011, the road was paved down to the gas station at San Luis Gonzaga. How is it the rest of the way- I may need to take a pick-up down that way in a couple weeks. Thanks

It was the same when I was there in June, but the dirt was bumpy as fuck and beat to shit.

Once you got out of the hills past cocos it was better out to the highway, but up until then it was baja washboard.

I did it in a Van in May last year. It's a 10-15mph road. :twitch

:twitch is right! Mostly, I wanted it to be the same as it has always been, but the small part of me driving my pick-up wanted it to be paved.:lol3

I did that road in my E350 van in November just before and after the 1000 and it sucked. Granted, we were loaded with bikes and gear and had woefully inadequate shocks but it was a slow go for just about everyone that wasn't in a prerunner.

    This ^^^^

Last March ran it from the hwy south to Coco's, then to Alphonsina's. As I recall, the road was making it's way from the north, but hadn't quite made it to Gonzaga Bay yet. Maybe 10-15 (?) miles short, but not too bad...

    EDIT:
A pic from the stretch between Gonzaga Bay and San Felipe looking norte'. Still unpaved at the time.
