We might as well say January is over, and February is a short month. That brings up March. There's been talk lately of shorter rides that take place over a weekend or an extended weekend. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in trailering or riding (weather permitting) to Red Wing and going south along the river from there. I'm thinking sometime around the third week in March.

Weather and budget permitting, I would be completely for doing this. I have an aunt and uncle that live in Red Wing, and although I haven't been there yet, I have heard many good things about the local roads. I will keep in touch as time goes on and plans start to unfold. Riding season is coming! :clap

Pending timing and routes I'd be up for some riding down there. :ear

Timing is a good point to bring up. It's really going to depend on weather, but it seems like there's usually a good weekend around that time of the year.

If you come down to the Red Wing area, I'm about 1 hour West of that area, feel free to drive down after work and I can find space for you to crash one night and head out in the morning. I would plan on riding with you and we can find some great twisties in SE Wisconsin. Enough good roads to keep you occupied for the weekend.

SSgB and I may be able to make that one. He lives in the SE metro, so he and I can stage from his house...

    Weather permitting, of course!

I'd consider it as long as the hiway dept hasn't just put down another layer of salt.

I hear ya, toad! I would love to go there (someday). I'd want to get a more proper dirtbike, though.

Off topic question for you north shore riders. I am wondering if anyone uses Sprint for their cell coverage, and how well does it perform way up nort. Thanks!

Not sure about sprint. At&t has better coverage than verizon though in my experience.

I just turn my Sprint phone off unless I'm on Hwy 61. No coverage in Superior National Forest.

    Hi Award,
I'm a ATT user up here, but I'm in the tcom biz so to speak, so it's something I watch. It's not exactly what you are looking for, but Sprint's coverage map shows some coverage up this way: LINKY

Sprint customer often roam on AT&T towers, and I can say my AT&T coverage is probably the best their is up north. Still dead spots, but I have coverage almost always along the shore. The forest is hit or miss. Mostly miss as you get farther from townships or highspots.

From the Brownsvillian Memorial Wisconsin Ice Riding Thread. Ice screws at work in southern WI. This is one of the things we should be doing during these cold Minnesota winters.
