I'd be interested in camping around other inmates. I booked a room just in case but camping would be more interesting.

For those of you who sent the forms back already, did you send it to the address on the enclosed envelope (Novi, MI address) or did you send it to the address on the USAC Membership payment card (Speedway, IN address?)

Kinda of confused, and want to make sure it's going to right place.

    Thanks

I just did this for the motoGP at COTA.

Try to get a corner in walking distance (where you don't have to cross the track) of the pit. This way, between race, warmup and practice you can walk over and see the riders.

Once you get that track marshal uniform on you can walk where you want no questions asked.

I call it the freedom pass and I don't think I will ever pay for a ticket again.

Hopefully control dosn't almost kill you.

    Use the whistle.

I've never camped at Indy during the races but my understanding is that the camping accomodations are wonderful.....if you have a Newell "camper". I'm not sure there is shade for miles, and I may be wrong but I don't there are facilities for camping other than a place to run your generator all night.

We get pretty decent rates at the "official" motels and I have always stayed with a roomie to keep costs down.

But never having camped at Indy, all information in this post is purely second-hand and I could be completely full of shit.

    Can anyone else help?

Just bumping this back up to see if there is any news or updates. I have checked the website for track workers and didn't see anything new.

Well, assuming all of us that received and submitted the lengthy paperwork are officially "IN", should we begin discussing an ADV group camp?:freaky

Based on the above e-mails, I PM'd Ken (Uncle Duke) and asked whether he could confirm who was for sure cleared to work as a corner worker. Hopefully he will respond soon, so that everyone can make their travel plans accordingly.

I'm in. Y'all that have been there before know if there's anywhere suitable for a hammock 'round there?

I just called the Baymont Inn and Suites, which is where the event workers' hotel room blocks were... all booked.:baldy

Those of us without official plans really need to make some. There was a camping form in the packet that I submitted. Camping is dry and primitive (i.e. no water or electricity). They didn't say if there is restroom access...

I started planning my route to Indy today. Looks to be a solid 2.5 days of exploring to get there for me and a less-interesting 2-day ride back home.

We could simply reserve camping on our own. :kumbaya

I browsed through the options and given that it will be warm, I'd opt for a shower, which means I'd personally require the following:

    Tent camping - motorcycle > 4-day permit > Lot 2

    Amenities=
    Lot Surface:Grass
    Environment:Festive:evil
    Water Hookups:No
    Shower Facilities:Temporary Shower Trailer
    Sewer Hookups:No
    Restroom Facilities:portolets
    Electrical Hookups:No
    Dump Station:No
    Tent Camping Lot:Yes
    RV/Pull Behind Camping Lot:Yes
    Daily Parking Lot:Yes
Tailgating Allowed in Daily Parking Areas:Yes
    Water Fillup Station:No:1drink

Grass? Beats a parking lot. I'll be there.

Me too. I replied with an inquiry about camping, so hope Bob includes that info in the next installment.

I'm in, camped in lot 2 last year, it was nice grass surface but as you would imagine if you want uniterrupted sleep ear plugs come in real handy.

So who's going to establish the ADV-MotoGP basecamp and how are we going to find it, it's a pretty large lot.
