    Hey All -

I've recently moved to Australia and in order to register my R80ST from the US I need a headlamp for driving on the left. Does anyone know where I can find one used here in Oz??? I'm trying to avoid buying new since the Victorian government is taking all my other money in fees to ride here. From our research I guess an R65 headlamp would also work.

    Thanks for your help!!

Hey, all ... and Merry Christmas!

New member here, and thought I'd add my bike to the list:

    1983 R80ST
    Mileage: 56.5K
    VIN: 7200
    Owner History Unknown

She runs well, and I try to make sure she stays that way.

This pic is more recent, after this summer's replacement of the exhaust, pushrod seals, neutral switch, and getting a spline lube in as well. Now she's developed an electrical problem causing the taillight and instrument lights to blink and flutter in sync...but runs great.

Merry Christmas everybody. Hope you are all making it through the holiday season. I'm spending time with relatives in Kansas and am thankful for having the foresight to purchase a 3/4L of Jager yesterday when I was about town. Been dealing with the the garbadge disposal detonation and baby's first scratched cornea in good stride. (not my garbadge disposal and not my baby) I kind of wish I had stayed at home so I could have sat on the bike making reving noises while thinging of spring...:rofl

Random passing thought - does anybody have experience w/ the ST reynolds racks? Just wondering how they compare to the stock rack/bag mounts.

    Cheers!!

Race Tech's cartridge emulators are going in. And better still, the weather looks like it might be nice enough for a test ride!

    Looks better, no? :lol3

Click on the ^photo^ to see more photos of the process. Be careful when ordering the kit. The correct part number is FEGV S3301. I ordered the wrong one...the one categorized for 80-87 R80. Who knew? The shop where I had the work done, MAX BMW, luckily had a set of the correct size.

The suspension is markedly better. Firmer feel. Much less dive under braking. Really good. I like the result.:clap

Well, its wintah in Rhode Island, and I thought I would do a little sprucing up of the "new" ST... found a bit of an oil leak at the rear seal:

Couple of questions for the ST Gurus: first what is this oil drain plug? The threads fit perfectly, it is a very nicely-made brass something-or-other that has a check-valve at the pan end, going INTO the engine.... wtf??

Also, I am removing the air-injection system, and for the life of me cannot find the thread that says what to plug the head end with... anybody know? A brass plug would be ideal, but I sorta recall someone saying that a drain plug from a K bike, or some such?

    Any help appreciated!

That looks, uh, "custom." No idea why it would have a check valve on it. I'd replace it with the normal airhead one so you can remove it with the tools in your on-board tool kit.

Yep, oilhead drain plug. NOT K drain plug. Use the crush washer as well.
