The funeral was performed by Monsignor Giuseppe Chiaretti, Archbishop of Perugia, at the sports ground of Sanfatucchio. More than 5,000 people travelled to the small town to bid their final farewell to the late 25-year-old, including Marco Melandri, Michel Fabrizio, Alex Polita, Lorenzo Zanetti, Massimo Roccoli, Luca Scassa, Raffaele De Rosa, Pierfranceso Chili and Fabrizio Pirovano. On the coffin of Andrea were white <i>flowers, a sign of the purity of a life too young, and a shirt with his name and the number eight, which had marked his entire career. Beside the altar also was his bike, his helmet and his suit. At the entrance to the stadium the coffin was carried by hand and was greeted by a big round of applause to all the people present and to greet this guy who is gone too soon.
