Did a throttle sync today and, apart from having to prop the fuel tank up to get to the required bits, it was pretty easy. No need to put the bike into any service mode, just connect up the vacuum gauges (T-connector required on the left one), bring it up to temp at idle and measure away and tweak air bypass screws as required.

The following pictures show how to connect up the vacuum hoses to the throttle body. Note that in the first picture (left side) I have pulled out the T-connector so you can see it but it otherwise sides down beside the radiator hose and there are no kinks in any of the hoses.

My bike only has 5000 kms on the clock, so I was only really checking throttle sync as one of the potential culprits for handlebar vibration. Turns out it was just in spec (1cmHg differential max) but I tweaked it anyway to get the gauges as close to even as possible. I had to turn the right air bypass screw about 1/8 turn CCW, which I then dabbed with loctite. Here are the before and after readings, noting that is hard to get a representative photo because they pulse at a different phase.

I haven't ridden it yet, but it seemed similarly smooth to rev as before so I'm not expecting to see much difference on the vibration issue. I'll report back if it has magically fixed it!

The only problem, unless I'm reading something wrong, is that The Darth Peach lists his location as Northern California. Who has an S10 in Northern California in April 2011? And how? I am officially jealous...

You have missed a key piece of information... that's a girl! That's one reason why the pic is awesome

    No it's not.

The first one says "What ! Who you looking at ?" in an Al Pacino voice. The second one is just a bike ... a very good one, but just a bike.

I was going to try that but I'm struggling to find something in my garage that is heavy, small and can be attached safely.

Hi, I didn't want to talk too soon about the bike, because I wanted to do the break in and have time to test her later.
Well, that time is now so I'm going to talk.
First at all, the ST is too heavy (I can not stop comparing her with my Tiger 955). The seat is very uncomfortable, after 300km my bum is a square.
I could do triple than that with the Tiger, is a couch!.
From 5000 to 6000rpm there is something wrong with the engine, the power goes down a bit, a very very strange feeling.
The standard tyres are bad, not much stability. Michelin much better!.
I wish the bike was more agile, I miss that a lot on the bike.
Bike is missing another 50 horse power, it is not powerful enough.
    The rest is all good!.

    cheers

Have you tried the Ducati, It sounds like that is what you are wanting in a bike.

That could well be something to do with emissions - typically the [Euro] drive-by noise tests are done at a speed and in a gear which equates to around 5000rpm on a bike... perhaps the EFi backs off the ignition or something there to minimise the noise and emissions outputs... it happens on some other EFi bikes too, it's like a flat spot, then you get full power again...

In my experience, OEM tyres tend to be whatever deal the manufacture has done with a tyre company x - Fortunately they wear out pretty quickly and you can change to your personal preference...

Hee hee - maybe you need to try a Ducati Multistrada?

Didn't you het the opportunity to do a test drive?

Sounds like you don't like the bike at all, why did you buy it?

    No offence, just curious,

    Cheers

Interesting comments. Have you seen this thread?
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=616652

It shows that this bike has 273 orders from people in North America who have not seen it. Let alone ride it.

so was realRider's choice of subject "The truth about the st1200" and of course the fact that he bought his bike in Oz, where he could have test rode it, I would imagine...

I'm sure the US guys will nearly all be delighted by the S10 - I still need to find an owner who is as disappointed as realRider, that is if he is for real...
