    Hi everybody!
does anyone know if you need to change the upper clamp to install the scots damper in the 990?.
Can match the holes in the scots damper with these original holes in the clamp?
    Thanks a lot!

The Scotts unit does require the Scotts upper triple clamp. The package is just over $600 it I recall correctly. I put one on my '10 990A and really like it. I have had one on my Honda XR650L since I bought it new in 2004. Really improves the handling in rough or rocky conditions. Keeps the ruts and rocks from jerking the handle bars out of your hands or launching you on a different trajectory.

    Good luck in your decision.

    I could be looking for a top clamp too. Just looking at BRP site they say this;

    SPECIAL NOTES:
When running a Scotts stabilizer in the SUB Mount configuration the arm will need to be reversed mounted. Using a lower bend bar can often emulate the stock bar height. Due to the SUB Mounts increased height, triple clamp style enduro handguard mounts will not work with many bar bends so we recommend running either U-clamp or Bonz mounts.

Does this mean Bark Busters etc wont fit ?
And it looks like I would need to get lower bars because these mounts are a little higher.

    Cheers.

20 minute install and works really well. 14k on mine and no issues. Looks pretty too. Was 400 bucks I think. S

I had no issue fitting Barkbusters to mine, although it may depend on which one you fit, I fitted "VPS's" not the storms

Hey Martin thanks for that. Could you or anyone else tell me the bar height (centre) from the top of the clamp. Just trying to tell if the bars would be higher. Im kinda hoping not. They are at a good height for me now.

    Cheers.

IF you desire some rise . . . the RallyConnex riser will support the Scotts without a change of triple.

I have the BRP on my 950 but if I did it again . . . I'd forego the BRP. The RallyConnex raises the bars AND moves them forward.

    For a long-armed galut, it's preferable. (6'3", 37" inseam, 37" sleeve.)

But Im a bit shorter than you. I dont want the bars any higher than stock if possible.

Did anyone figure out a way to install the Scotts Damper without having to replace the triple clamps?

I've had my superb Scott damper for three seasons and almost 60000 kms. Guess it is time for an overhaul and fluid change. Does anybody sell a service kit for the Scott damper or do I need to pick each piece of orings and special tools etc from Scott's homepage?

Can you explain this? Are you saying that you can mount a SCOTTS on the stock triple by somehow using this riser?

Anybody have a pic of the PMB setup mounted? If im reading it correctly, the damper mounts backward on the frame and the pin mount on the triple clamp. My only concern is if the damper pivot mounts directly over the steering head. I talked to Scotts about this issue a couple years ago and he explained that they need to be on the same axis.

Thanks for searching that out,,,,, I was wrong in the way I thought it mounted. But it still makes me leary because the pivot center is so far from the center of the steering head. The moment will be inconsistant as the bars are turned.
