ABS? Traction Control? Throttle Mapping?

Hardly a better value than the new Hyper, at least on paper.

You wanted dependability and maintainability, all that other stuff is just more to break. You were the one that doesn't want to spend time wrenching. FZ1's go 26K miles between valve checks!

I'd say a 18K mile valve check lends itself to some serious miles. The other items are proven technology and there's little reason to believe that failures are imminent. $12K is still a lot of money for a motorcycle but this bike has a lot to offer for the money spent. I suspect we'll see this bike show up in a wide variety of ride reports. Still waiting for an MPG spec to be posted on the web. Should hit the states around April.

The FZ1 is a great bike and highly praised but it still lacks the newest technology. Besides that, Bum shoulders and wrists prevent me from riding sportbikes.

The FZ1's bout do for a makeover. Wouldn't be surprised to see it get some of the goodies like traction control off the R1, and of course all street bikes will be getting ABS soon as our nanny state gubmint will be forcing that issue. As for throttle mapping, my 690 has it, I set it to the power mode when I first got it and I've never touched it since.

As for the ergos, come on it's not a sport bike by any stretch, its a sporty naked bike like the Hyper, Z1K, CB1K, SuperDuke, etc, etc.

That all being said, I never said the Hyper sucks, just that Ducati sucks for calling something it's not.

I test rode that FZ1 and was dissapointed at the vibes. Mirrors were usueless do to so much vibration. My hands didn't like it either. I fly helicopters, I get enough vibes at work. Don't need none on my time off.

i went to have my bike serviced, and took a ride on a used GSA. Next week I picked up my old bike and a new GSA. Rode to old bike one time and sold it. Never looked back, and won't ride anything but the GSA. I did have to put a different seat on it, to be comfortable.

Looks are deceiving... I weigh 220 right now, 240, 2 weeks back. Last weekend my oldest daughter and her beau went with me to a BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealer in Houston. It was his first time in a moto dealership and a great opportunity for me to be labeled a cool dad.

No way, in about 5 years, my girls will be young women, hopefully going to college and my boy and I should be off riding the TAT.
