GB, Anything new from Staintune?? Anyone else have new info on aftermarket pipes that won't wake the neighbors?
I emailed Staintune in Australia and they never replied. I got a price on the BMW supplied Akrapovic: CAD$1530 list price.. and that's not including the header pipe.. oh, and it's on backorder in Germany... I wouldn't want it at half that price.. I'm hoping Staintune produces a quality exhaust for the X that's also not too loud.
Hope this isn't too far off topic. I saw this recently and it looks like a good fix when you need to be quiet or quieter. Db dawg from Hyde Racing They have some BMW stuff too. G650X
Done some more digging and this seems the baby Full system Can't post the file though, damnhik Looks great and come in @ 93dB Alloy and with heatguards Supplied with a Foam Filter for the XC on the Racing version and the dyno gives it another 5hp, with a link pipe to ditch the Cat From the file they sent me BMW G650 X ’07 stock 42,7 Hp @ 6913 rpm 57 Nm @ 2120 rpm BMW G650 X ’07 Bos oval Ec appr. 44,4 Hp @ 6513 rpm 59 Nm @ 2048 rpm BMW G650 X ’07 Bos oval open + kit 47,1 Hp @ 6258 rpm 62 Nm @ 2022 rpm As you can see on the graph the exhaust smoothens the torque and in combination with the racing kit it radical changes the power of bike. Because this is a complete new design we have to produce a lot of new tools for the production of these silencers. We will do this as fast as we can and inform you about pricing and availability. Available late March beginning April 2008.
Hi all!!!! I've made a protector with aluminium and it works perfecly! ...There is 1 centimeter between exhaust and the protector Cheers
Does anyone know if the akropovic has a heat guard ? Also, i haven't really seen anyone discuss or show pics of the akropovic, just the remus and leo vince...is that just due to price? I was looking to get the "best" pipe i could and wanted to get some opinions on HP / torque gains from these different pipes. Noise is not a big issue to me, i have no hearing left anyway due to years of gunfire without hearing protection... any help is much appreciated im a newbie on the forums... be gentle with me :) this may be the best site ever!
I have decided on either the remus or akropovic for my 650x, does anyone know if you must re-map the bike for the pipe? This is my first fuel injected bike that is not from japan. The remus vendor out here said you can just install and go... ? That seems wrong to me...
I got an MSRP of CAD$1480 for the BMW supplied Akrapovic.. and that's without the header pipe. :eek1 Too rich for even me. The Remus can is a slip on.. nothing to remap. But I heard it wasn't quiet.
thanks for the info, according to the remus website the freeride can is 94 db w/ baffle and 100db without. Im not sure what any of the others are.
Guys, I've just ordered a Leo Vince exhaust, and whilst poking around on their website, I noticed that they seem to have changed the design to incorporate another heatshield, right where everyone says there should be one. You can just see the small square of carbon in this pic: http://www.sitogroup.com/pls/pazsito/pk$ges_upload.download?nome_file=F10266/FD-3606_1X.jpg And you can see it more clearly in the exploded diagram, available here: http://www.sitogroup.com/pls/pazsito/pk$ges_upload.download?nome_file=F16733/DT-3606.pdf I guess some manufacturers do listen! I'm hoping mine will come with this update. If it does, I'll post pics here. Storm
My exhaust turned up today, and I fitted it during my lunch break. I'm happy to see it did include the additional heat shield. Attached is a pic of it on my bike. Leo Vince owners may be able to get them from the manufacturer seperatly.
Do a make/model/year search on this site and here is one of the options for ya http://www.motokuhl.com/store/product.php?productid=16815&cat=302&page=3 M
I have the Remus, love it. Pulled the bung out of it, took the air filter cover off and it pulls like a 14 year old, has more grunt than a piggery at feed time and more talk than a truckstop Cafe. Love the change in power and now it sounds like a thumper.
Just got mine back with the full remus freeride system.... wow! It is like someone fed it a red bull! I am very supprised at the difference a simple exhaust system makes on this bike. I am going to add a K&N filter, i'm sure it will help a bit more but very little in the way of noticeability at this point just easier for me to clean etc. It is loud though. I like it better because the stock exhaust was impossible to hear on a highway or going fast down a "main" road. It was hard to hear how hard it was working to stay at those speeds. I had it out today and drove 20 miles to start the ride and did 75+ the whole way and it wasn't even working. I love it ! The plus's greatly outway the sound which is similar to a yz / cr / rm 450 with a pipe. In the woods when you are just goosing it around it is not that bad. It is only abnoxious when you really pour it on :eek1 A couple of my friends who have ridden the bike before/after also can't believe the throttle response and pep it added. Get it you won't regret it !
I was thinking about experimenting with the Supertrapp "Superlight Stainless" - which was essentially the "Adventure Pipe" on my old Dakar. I'm poking around at the office currently - does anyone have the pipe diameter for the XChall handy so I can plan which slipon to add? Danka
