Im thinking making the same set up for mine, I was considering 2 LM7805s wired in parrallell though to lighten the load on them.

The transformer is in the plug so it does indeed convert 12 volt to 5 volt.

There has to be someone who sells those to the US, but I must have done something to anger the Google gods...

BMW 12v socket to mini usb.

For charging my blackberry curve (micro usb connection) I ordered a tiny MiniUSB/MicroUSB adapter.

Electricity noob here. 2008 1200GS. While I know how to defrag a hard disk and use the registry editor with instructions, the electricity battery stuff scares me. I figured out that cables for the car cigarette lighter don't fit into that accessory socket under the seat. Are there any adapters I can plug in and won't jam into my leg while riding?

I saw this cable from Powerlet - is it the same thing for the BMW socket?

Looks like the right angle will save space, and I can bring the cable up through the seat to the tank bag, where I can my phone/USB cable that I use in the car.

    Mucho thanks for any insight.

Yes, the powerlet plug is the same as a BMW plug.

I believe that this is the company that imports them. I also found page there that implies the minimum "credit card orders" quantity is 20, but don't see a way to order outside of filling out the form to have them call you back.

Burnszilla, if you could devise a way to defeat the yellow triangle for low fuel and the low fuel read out, it would sell a bunch (in light of the fuel strip failures). I'd rather just defeat the system and use my trip meter. I was thinking you can plug something into to fuel strip sensor to give a "full" reading. Thanks for listening.

Thanks. I'd be interested in a couple of them if you're planning on a group order.

I first tried searching (Bing) on the name their using for it on Canadian Tire. When that didn't work, I tried searching using some distinctive words from the description.

Is that going to be with a powerlet plug on the other end?

Another question, any idea what the amp output of those is?
