My riding buddy (Ed) and I were riding to Dahlonega, Ga. to have a valve stem replace on his
    Moto Guzzi today.
We left about 8:30 and got down the road to Tellico Plains, Tn. where we stopped for a bathroom break and Ed could put on his rain pants.
The light rain had started about 15 miles back up the road.
As you leave Tellico, the roads gains in elevation and gets curvy.
Well, about three miles up the road I start into a left hand curve and the back end tries to pass me.
I was just along for the ride then and wound up going down on the right side.
Ed stopped behind me, and a man came out of his house which has a driveway on the right, in the curve.
The first thing the local said was " I heard you crash, I have been trying to get the highway department to do something about that curve cause it is always slick."

The only damage to me was landing on my phone in my right pocket and a small bang on my right elbow.
    I am ATGATT.

glad to hear you walked away. Shame about the Givi screen. I had that same model on my SV650N. I heard they don't make it anymore.

Since you've got that resident claiming it's slippery when wet, I say go after the local hwy department to cover your damage. Especially if there's no "slippery when wet" caution sign, it could make for a big negligence suit if you cared to pursue it.

I've never been a fan of suing for stuff like this, but when you can go after gov't, I'm all for it. :)

    +1 on the above post.

Here in Calif. the DOT is routinely sued for accidents just like yours. Takes some time but riders have been successful in getting expenses covered. Good luck what ever you do. ATTGAT paid off - good for you :clap

OP- I'm glad you're relatively unscathed.

Having been there myself, it sucks! Here's a section of road which is a known issue if you're a local. What do you do? Take your lumps in a this is part of 2 wheeling philosophy, or feel the victim of negligence and litigate? Best case, you still take your lumps but receive monetary compensation for it.

Didn't I also read recently about a rider going down on powdered glass after line painting?

I have made over 50 trips on this road, not much in rain, so I do know the road.

The way I look at it is, "Shit Happens".
I was there of my own choosing and riding my own ride.
I will regroup and go forward, no drama on my end.:thumb

Good thing the Reaper got scared and jumped off.

Unfortunate occurance, glad you were ready for it.

    And came out pretty unscathed.

Funny how anthing in your pockets leads to an "ouch" when you land on it....

    Ride safe, heal fast brother.

Sorry to hear about the get-off. Glad you are ok.
Too bad there wasn't someone on the side of the road taking pictures when it happened.

Definitely try to get the DOT to put a sign up there or something so some other poor guy doesn't have the same crash! As we all know from our handbooks...roads are slickest in the first 10 minutes of rainfall, when the oils on the road combine with the water. Glad you're OK!

    Seriously!!! Sue the Gov't.
The Gov't is me and you, the taxpayers.
Do you really expect a sign at every turn, bump, pothole????
There is already an excess of signage to the point of being rediculous, like "SLIPPERY WHEN WET" or "SLOW CURVE AHEAD".
Do we really need a sign for something we learned before kindergarten?
We ride machines who's natural state is on it's side, don't blame/sue me if you fall over.

Glad your gear did it's job and you have the right attitude about what happened..
