    Greetings to all.

I'm starting a thread devoted to the beauties of Greece as you can discover them riding a motorbike. I've been riding all around Greece for about 5 years and I have a quite big archive of photos, maps, routes etc. I will be posting once or twice a week and only small ride reports with a couple of pictures each time, in order to show as many places as possible.

I hope you will enjoy my reports as much as I did.

I will start with a 2day trip I made with my girl and a friend about 2 years ago. Our goal was to reach Porto Heli and explore the places around it. We rode on tarmac roads, but we did a little gravel as well. On our way we visited 2 monasterys, one live and one abandoned a seaside town called Kilada and Porto Heli of course.

    Here are the pics:

And the 2nd Monastery, called Moni Avgou, meaning the monastery of the egg.

That's all for now. Hope you like it.

    Thanks for the pictures.

We will be in Greece in late July/early August of 2006.

Maybe we can "hook-up" for a tour.

    Cheers

NIce area man. I have to get more time for riding out here. There are so many missions that are supposed to be beautiful and are such a significant part of California's history. :cry

First of all, I am sorry for the delay. My job had me overoccupied for the last 10 days, so there was no time for posts.

I'm returning with a trip I made about two months ago to the mountain of Taygetos, visiting some friends.

Taygetos is one of the highest mountains in Greece. It is situated between the cities of Kalamata and Sparta in Southern Peloponisos and the road that connects them is one of the best rides you can make in Greece.

Near Sparta we visited the Medieval town of Mystras with its castle. From Mystras came the last emperor of the Byzantine Empire (with Konstantinopole-Istanbul as capital city).

    Now with the photos:

Second day of the trip and we visit Mystras.
This is the view as you approach the area:

The city is in ruins, but using some imagination you can "see" how it was:

Some buildings are beeing restored right now. They will be used as museum:

And finishing the day at a very nice cafe-bistrot overlooking Mystras and Sparta:

That's enough for now. The map of the route will follow soon.

We will appreciate pictures of 2 legged Greek Beauties also!

What do you know of the area from Thessolonica to the Albanian border?

I hear the traffic anywhere close to Athens is very bad, what is your advice on dealing with it?

What is best and worst months for riding weather?

Beautiful pics of a beautiful place. I was over there a few years ago and rented a couple of scooters and rode a round I think the name of the Island was Paros and then took a ferry over to another small island called Anti-Paros. There are no words for me to explain the place you live in.

Athens was good but I find the islands are the best. Keep the pics coming.

Great pics! That also reminded me that I had some old pictures from a trip I did on Amorgos in 1998. I scanned them yesterday but then my connection broke so I couldn't upload them. Will try again tonite.

The next stop of our journey will be Mani and Cape Tainaro the southest part of the European continent. I think you will be amazed of what you'll see. Be patient and thanks again.
