ok guys, don't laugh at me. for some reason i have been obsessed with those little flyscreens. i picked up a super cheap thing online and decided to rig it up and give it a shot. whaddya think? theres a good size gap between the headlight and the screen which bugs me, but what can you do with a universal fit. had to drill out the mounting bracket to attach to the ignition on the headlight. it does a decent job at deflecting a bit of wind off my chest, but i think it focuses all the air onto my neck...haha. not quite sure about it yet. anyway, also wanted to show you all the bike which you all give me so much help with. thanks to all!
Not a fan... i just don't think it looks right. have you seen the one from WWW.FLATRACER.COM ? I am still not a fan, but atleast it looks more finished. http://flatracer.com/#/fairings/4554112466
None of the above look terrible,,,,,but an R90S mini fairing is really the only one you should use for cosmetic reasons. Steve
yeah i've looked through all the usual fairing/cafe places, but most are just way too expensive to "test something out". this universal thing was dirt cheap. maybe i should have made this a poll! haha.
Yes. But that's just my opinion. I prefer bikini fairings to fly screens. The real question though, is does it work for you, both in the function and looks departments? If so, who cares what the masses think!
It would look better if it was cut to fit closer to the shape of the headlamp. That looks like it was meant to fit on one of those 80's Japanese bikes with the rectangular headlamp.
hey, that bike looks familiar I've been looking for a cheap windshield to chop up into a flyscreen, so good on you for getting it done. I like where your head's at, but think it could use a bit more polish. maybe change the shape a bit to fit better with the bike? spencer
it would not be my deal, but your bike rocks ass. I would not want to stray from the overall intended flavour of that ride.
could be worse yes, the bike looks great. current shape of the flyscreen fits it like a bad toupeé but please keep it coming as I'm feeling the need for a flyscreen too.
you might want to try using a flyscreen from a 2002 buell lightning... i think the single headlight is the same size.
I have that screen on a '92 R100R. Keeps a surprising amount of pressure off the torso and puts my head in relatively clean air. I Like It. Mike
haha, i know i know, i would love to have an S fairing. i would also LOVE to have the spare cash laying around to buy one. but i'm afraid that ain't happening anytime soon. love the star trek comment, haha. maybe i should rename the bike "spock"? anyway, yeah, this was just a test with a cheap thing i got online for fun. i really do like the idea of a nice flyscreen, and i know it's possible to fabricate one that would "fit" better. perhaps i'll give that a shot as a next round. i could maybe have fun with the dremel tool on this one and get things to line up better. who knows. it's all for fun right now, friends. now that the bike is running great, i have time and energy to do things like this. as a reference, this is what the bike looked like when i bought it. a "poor man's cafe". i've got the crappy aftermarket S fairing, but i can't get it to fit correctly and it looks even more "junky" than this flyscreen. all in all though, i think i've done a pretty dang good job putting it "back to normal" for not knowing what the heck i'm doing! haha
