    Run down condition? It's perfect and hopefully will stay in the same condition, just fixed up enough to run and ride, and not be restored.

    Clean it up. Paint it, then ride. Rust is bad, no matter how old.

    I remember reading that TE Lawrence's bike was lost in the depths of time but he was known to put a florin ( old English coin worth 2 shillings) under the fuel cap.
    Apparently every Brough SAuperior that's offered for sale has a florin under the cap to convince the buyer it was the original Lawrence bike :)
