That's when we are all either at the Dakar or glued to our screens following it. :D

I get a feeling you missed this years event? :rofl

For those of you who are following this, we have set a date for a Nav training on January 20,21 and possibly 22 (long stage day).

You need for first two days:

Your own bike with 80-mile range
    Scrolling full-size Mapbook reader
Odometer and Cap Heading display (look at Rally Blitz app)
GPS unit that can track you

For third day (if we do it):
Bike needs to have 120-mile range
Rider needs to have a SPOT or similar device

Cost is set right now at $400 per day.

This class will cover all of the basics of mapbook rally navigation and then go into detail on advanced techniques as required.

    Very good timing Jimmy...:clap:clap:clap

Any idea of min-max class size? I like the idea of the 3rd day as well.

    Jimmy,

Any chance of another date in Feb? Any others interested in February?

Simply cannot make January, but could carve time out of Feb and would love to get some training in before the 2014 Baja Rally.

Thanks for all of your support for rally and riders!

I can handle as many riders as sign up, at least for the two days because it is easy to sweep routes and check for safety on training routes.

The third day route is a little more difficult and depends on how may rider on the route we choose. I have a few options all dependent on participation.

We are still light on January entries so February is not an option unless the head count is there to support it. I know that putting on these classes is a labor of love and not a money maker, just ask anyone else who has tried. It is hard enough for most guys to gather up the funds and time to go and do one of these events/races let alone spend money on proper training. And then you have to go and practice the stuff we teach.

But, we really need to have more rides who understand the navigation part of rally so that it can be done correctly. Or you can just do dual sport rides and follow track logs because that is what it will degrade to...

I really want to do one of these classes with Jimmy also, but cannot make Jan due to the need to plan well in advance.

I would love to do this class even if I never ride a stage rally!

Hoping for another date in the future.

Good times at the rally nav course last week guys. Really good to meet you all and ride together.
Thanks Jimmy for putting on a good event where I got a good crash course on rally stuff and am now looking forward to some of the actual rallys.
Riding the dunes first time was really a trip. Loved it.
Also Im glad that all these years of texting while driving have been great training for riding and looking down at the road book!
