There are many old towns, and communities surrounding my little town here in Georgia. Being a father of three, it's hard to find the time to just go ride with no destination or time to be home, but this afternoon was one of those rare days. And to sweeten the deal, the weather is perfect. After football and cheer leading this morning, I had the rest of the day to myself, so I fired up the Versys, and headed in a northerly direction. 12 miles outside of Gray is the small community of Hillsboro. It's an old farming community with a general store, a church, and a post office. There is a web of secondary, and gravel roads that connect two of the main highways that run through Gray. Highway 129 and highway 11. I took a right on Old Agateville Rd.,and the exploration began.

It's hard to believe this rickety old bridge is still in use.

On into the country to see what I can find.

The road got so narrow at one point, it felt more like a drive way through this field. I thought it was cool how this loan oak tree stood in an open field.

Eventually the road became chip seal, and then smooth pavement with a few spots where the trees created a canopy. Almost feels like riding in the mountains.

Then it opened up into rolling pastures and farmland.

I sat and watched these guys graze for a while, then pointed the Versys for home, relaxed, recharged.

I wanted to comment on the greens as well and I don't mean the bike. The vibrancy of the countryside really came through in the shots. Nice.

I assume you are talking about the license plate. That's just a standard tag lettering/numbering here in Georgia. One of mine starts with CY8 and the other starts with CY9.

Great pictures by the way Fireman, I see you have a fine taste in bikes too :D

Fireman: I've done some riding in your neck of the woods and when I lived in Tallahassee I rode a lot of back country near Thomasville:

As a guy from Minnesota I felt I was seeing some of what makes the South so special.

I'm in the same boat, except I only have one kid! Sometimes it needs to be about the ride, not the destination. Great pics!

Funny how a ride cam do that, get out for just a bit and everything can seem better! ...and there are plenty of dirt roads around here to get "lost" on!

I'm just down the roas from you in WR. Think I may have spoken to you briefly after Long Way Down showing. I'm up for a ride anytime you want a partner to explore central ga!
