    Its time.

Time for a seperate tab for Urals under this Hack forum. Someplace for discussion of the machine that makes our Hack move.

Keep us within the Hack forum, just seperate us out for discussion like the oilhead and airheads in the Gspot forum here.:freaky

Further thinking about this subject, & don't much like to over do that topic.

Ural cars are used next to many bikes & coppied by many shops.

    Urals are created equal......mostly.

Problems of high speed will not be discussed openly, promise.

We will be happy to MOD our selves........rather use to that anyway.

Our riders will not roost your front yard, nor steal your yard art.

Will keep the silly question about Ural VS BMW in its own seperate space at the bottom.:deal
sample: which came first the Ural or the ........egg?

Or you just have a Ural threadfest like the one for the DR650, Bicycle thread, etc. Those threads take on their own lives and you'll see the same people posting in them, like a subcommunity. Less work for the mods but harder to search out what you need if you're away for a while....

Just my 2 cents but if all I want is Urals I go to RI or SS this place is about sidecars, all sidecars so why segregate Urals? Next thing the Aussies are going to want their own subforum for those silly left handed rigs.

Like I said my 2 cents YMMV.

I'm with DR on this. Too many forums and sub forums means people outside that clique don't see what's going on there and people inside that clique don't benefit from the wider experience and perspective of those that have been there and done that.

Hacks are still a tiny subculture and the foil crowd is already a little too insular IMHO. Do you really want a forum here full of people asking what they can do to eke more hp out of a Ural or "where can I find high pipes" and people replying that "32hp is more than enough power for anyone" and "why don't you use the search engine?":evil

There are at least 3 active Ural boards out there already, let's leave well enough alone here.....

Um, I'm not insular. I haven't lined my foil hat with shearling. . .yet.

Agree 100%, especially about the damned Aussies. Urals are a gateway drug to more sidecarism for many of us. Just ask my wife if you don't believe me. She'll complain for hours.

The main reason I read and participate in this forum is because it isn't just about Urals, I have no desire to own another type of rig but that doesn't mean I don't find them interesting.

Also it gives folks a wider range of opinions if they are trying to decide if a Ural is right for them.

To paraphrase President Reagan, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall".

Our machines are Soviet era relics, we don't want any iron, electronic or forum curtains in place.

Let the Hacks forums be free for all. :rofl

Simply put, I'd find it a loss if Ural sidecar stuff wasn't within the "general population" of inmates.

Ideas, suggestions, expertise, and enthusiasm, all help to keep the show on the road. Variety really is the spice of our life.

No to segregation or sub forum.

Hacks is just fine as it is.

After all,us Urallists have got Soviet Steeds which is about 99% Ural anyway, given the very scarce Dnepr and Chang Jiang postings.

650s should be separated from the 750s.

    Agreed.

I like to see what is going on in the world of hacks. I love my Ural, but I dream of a day when I can have Ural, and a more highway friendly hack/combo. I love all sidecars, motorcycles, etc...

    I want it all!!:thumb

Segregation of the hack forums? Sounds like a BMW thing not a Ural thing:rofl
