Washtenaw County, Michigan Dirt Road TAG-O-RAMA

I was going to ride out there on Wednesday, but couldn't make it! New saddle should be delivered today, maybe this will be my excuse to try it out

Is there a lot of dirt roads in Washtenaw County?

Looks like fun. I'm looking to do my first longer distance trip this weekend on my bike, but since it's new (to me at least), I wanted to go with someone. I always doubt the reliability of every bike I ride when I first get. Seems bulletproof, but it's always something in the back of my mind. I want to take the pig off road and see how she handles on some tougher terrain. Hard packed dirt roads don't offer me too much in the way of testing off-road capability.

Yes, there are alot of nice dirt and gravel roads in washtenaw county, but mostly gravel.
None of them are challenging for a 650, you have to go father north for that, but its not about that, its about the scenery and solitude they offer.

I was out by Milford not long ago, and it reminded me of growing up in Gladwin a bit. Little north of you guys, but a nice area. Speaking of a tad north of you all, I heard a rumor that plated bikes can ride on snowmobile trails. Is this accurate in the slightest? Highland State Recreational Area has snowmobile trails...

Only if it doubles as a orv trail or a seasonal road.
If not, you better not get caught on it.

Bummer. I think the closest ORV place near us is The Mounds in Mt. Morris, isn't it?

I'm still learning places to ride down here.

We better get back on topic, go tag that last location and get some quality bonding time on your bike.

I didn't get a new tag, was dressed inappropriately for the rain. If anyone has a photo meeting tag criteria go ahead and take my tag turn otherwise, I'll do my best to find something this weekend... You could also go to Crooked Lake and re-tag the picnic area.

Waterloo Rec. Area has the best dirt roads in Washtenaw Co. Strommel is not one of them.

Here is one of the better roads just outside of A 2.
After you get your picture, follow Tubbs road down to the Huron river and Huron river drive.
Just after taking this pic I passed a herd of about 8 deer just off the side of the road.

Loving that we have a Washtenaw photo tag! I've been wanting to get out around the Waterloo area and do some more exploring. Fell in love with the area a few months ago and almost bought a house on Clear Lake Rd, but it fell through

Gas Guy!! i love the directions of following up after the tag. Thats part of what I really wanted to do was to expose the beauty and uniqueness of so many of our dirt roads in Washtenaw County!! so many times i think i want other people to ride a certain section to see some beautiful swamps or a patch of blooming lilacs... im getting emotional haha.
