The new MX442 graphics should arrive in about 2 weeks.

Huber light fiberglass, DOT/ECE shell. 2.47 lbs. in a medium size. Wide eyeport. Technical fabric liner wicks moisture and dries fast to keep you cool! One of the best values in an MX helmet on the market. Retail price $149.95.

Black/Gray Matte finish. Red and Blue are glossy finish.

Phil, are there any new colors or graphics coming for the MX453 or MX456 that you're aware of?

    Thanks,

    Hi Derek,

The only addition for 2014 is solid white for each of those models. I don't have an image for the MX456, but here is the MX453:

I'll post an image of the MX456 as soon as I get it.

    Thanks.

That's great news! Solid white is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! :clap

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have a rough estimate of when the white MX453 will be available in the US?

    Hi Derek,

Glad to hear it's what you are looking for. They look good. Don't they?

We expect the MX453 in white to arrive at the end of March.

The white MX456 won't be here until May of this year.

    Take care,
    Phil

At LS2 Helmets, we believe that ALL of motorcycling is an adventure and we're proud to announce our first Moto G.P. pilot, Yonny Hernandez, riding for Pramac Ducati.

Yonny has the dubiuos distinction of being the rider that fell off most often in 2013. I think that's a testament to his "go for it" style. He's a great guy and a great ambassador for the sport. Keep your eye out for him in 2014.

How is the fit of the FF386? I had a Schuberth Concept that was an XL. It fit great at first, but the liner compressed quite a bit and got real loose. I have an XL Arai Xd that I really like as well. There really isn't anywhere that I can find to try one on in Salt Lake. I'll try the places listed, but my expectations aren't high that they will have them.

    Hi cba191,

Honda World and Plaza Cycle are both LS2 dealers. I don't know what their inventory might be since we're mid winter, but they usually carry a reasonable stock. Call ahead to check.

The FF386 is an oval shape. When I've worked consumer shows, about 8 out of 10 really like it. For the other's it is the wrong head shape. We use a high quality foam and I have not had anyone complain about foam braking down.

I've not worn a Schuberth Concept, but according to GB here on ADV Rider, he tried several modulars and ended up liking the FF386. The link is here:

    Hi toto#77,

Currently, none of our European distributors are importing the MX453. I'm sorry, but I'd have to suggest you look for an online source.

    Thanks,

    Hi again, toto#77,

The MX453 fits very much like our full face FF396 CR1 or FT2 and also similar to the FF384. It is a long oval shape, which is one of the two most popular shapes in the U.S. Most who try it like it very much.

LS2 Helmets tests a black motorcycle helmet against a white to see if there is any noticeable difference between the two. Motorcycle riders have asked several times. I know of those who have argued that the thick padding and safety EPS of a helmet prevent the exterior temp from affecting the interior.

The results? The black helmet was just over 50 degrees hotter on the outside and about 10 degrees warmer on the inside.

For those interested, I checked my infrared thermometer following recommendations using my freezer. It was accurate within about 2%. The temperature of the top of the wall was about 96 degrees. After I filmed this, I swapped sides and let the helmets sit, then checked them again with basically the same results.

LS2 Helmets - FF386 modular motorcycle helmet. How to change the comfort padding.

PLEASE NOTE: From time to time, we make evolutionary changes on our helmets. YOUR LINER ON YOUR HELMET MIGHT LOOK DIFFERENT, but the basic method should be the same or similar.

I tried on the older version of the 386 at a local shop. Just as I thought, nobody has the 386. There was a tiny bit of pressure on the forehead, but the rest felt good. Is the padding in the new one different?

    Hi cba191,

It is different, but from the description of "pressure on the forehead," there is a good chance that the 386 is the wrong head form for you. You might need a long oval. We currently do not have a modular with a long oval shape.

What store did you visit? It would be best for you to be able to try the newest version on your head.

    Thanks,
    Phil
