:lurk Yeah, I'm in too - and filling your RR with useless drivel. Good thing there's that fancy program some chick up in Oregon developed to get rid of all these interruptions. :deal :lol3

I figured out how to beat it for my postings. Goofy photo quotes the adv-ruinator can have...I'm not fixing those.

    Yup 23 days, Jamie!! It's a little bit of a blur, but I wrote a journal for this one...almost a book.:deal

I'll go ahead and post this next segment as I'm getting a comment or two on the video already. If you're new to the "larryboy" ride report...music is my thing, I feel that an artist wants the listener to actually "feel" something when a song is heard...so I do.

    well, I crossed the river

    Fell into the sea

    Where the real riders
    Go beyond belief

    Then I scratched the surface
    In the mouth of hell

    Running out of service
    In the blood I fell

well, I...I just want to see the light

and, I...I don't want to lose my sight

well, I...I just want to see the light

and, I...I need to know what's worth the fight

    I've been wasted
    Drenched in alcohol

    I've been chasing
    Down the cool halls

    Then I drank the water
    From a hurricane

    and I set a fire
    Just to see the flame

well, I...I just want to see the light

and, I...I don't want to lose my sight

well, I...I just want to see the light

and, I...I need to know what's worth the fight

    well, I crossed the desert
    Reaching higher ground

    Then I found the pavement

    To take me into town

    but, It's gone forever

    but, Never too late
    Where the ever after
Is in the hands of fate

    Thanks, guys!!

Oh yeah, day one was 330 miles...I may as well share what's in my journal...most of it.:deal

    Day two.

Living at sea level makes getting out of town difficult sometimes. I tried camping at 10,000 feet one month before this trip as it's supposed to speed up altitude acclimation. It didn't feel like it this first morning...pounding headache and I'm only at 4,000 feet...I'm going to push it tonight and camp at 6,000 feet and hopefully put it behind me by night three.

I didn't want to blast past the families that were camping closer to the main road(deep sand and gravel to get down here), so I found another way back to the main road. Cool old railroad grade and a water tower.

I rode up the west side of the lake towards Gerlach.

Burning Man was ramping up today. Rare picture before the dust cloud starts.

I made my way north thru the Sheldon Game Reserve.

I dropped into Denio Junction for fuel for the bike and myself. Denio Burger is where it's at..I wish they would start stocking Gatorade. I went up to the hot springs for a soak.

I went back down to Fields Station for fuel and beer. It's getting late and I'm heading for the Steens to camp for the night. Sun is to my left and I can't see a thing if I look to the west. Out of thin air an entire herd of antelope jumped the fence at speed and decided we should dance. Hard on the brakes at 75 MPH I'm weaving around trying not to hit anybody...like 40 of them...I finally got it hauled down and stopped.

We all just kind of looked at each other, trying to figure out what happened.

I made my way up into the Steens for the night.

I lost track of how many animals the Husky killed. :scratch

I almost forgot to give you guys my top speed run on the Alvord playa. 102 on the way out and it wouldn't go over 96 on the way back.

I know this sounds childish but drinking pedialyte will help w/ altitude. Gatorade works too as it has electrolytes but lots of sugar too. I went from sealevel to 9,400 in the matter of 5 hours (2.5 hr plane triip and 2.5 hr drive) last weekend and pedialyte was a huge help. Child's asprin as well. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

:lurk Great photo's. And your braver than I.....I wouldn't be pulling any top speed runs by myself, out in the middle of no where, on a bike with 20,000 miles on the ticker.:eek1

    But its still cool.:thumb

That's it. I have got to get a helmet cam. Going to check out that thread later. Meanwhile....

    :lurk

Amazing how that poor bird became embedded into the plastic. Not sure if that's the helmet or bike.

Did you pluck them and stick them in your oil-filled billy can deep fryer?:lol3

oh yeah, this hits the spot... and to think there are 21 more days to go!:freaky

    looking forward to the rest.

Had my 1st experience with altitude a couple of months ago riding to the top of mt Evans in Colorado. Started to get light headed and short of breath a bit. Then the park ranger got on the horn to evacuate the mountain top due to lightning. I was the last one out of the parking lot. Lightning cracking close enough to make the hair on my arms stand, cured all my altitude ills, so I could focus on how much all that grinding of chrome, at every turn, was going to cost me when I dropped off the rental:lol3
