I have the rino 130 I have been able to transfer routes on Arkansas Fish and game. How else can I use the cable? since then I have had to get a USB adapter to connect to a different computer does it change capabilities? is there software I need to put my routes on the PC?
Kind of hard to figure out what you are asking. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=182 will show you the capabilities of your unit. You can add detailed map data (purchase from Garmin or use Open Source information) and upload routes that you create on a PC. Garmin has Mapsource and Basecamp software available to create and load data, depending on the computer you are using. There is also third party software avaialable. Lots of good info in the forum to read on map data, where to get it, how to use it, etc.
BaseCamp supports a wide range of Garmin devices. However, it will not support legacy Garmin devices, specifically devices that utilize the serial port connection which the Rino 130 has. You can use Trip and Waypoint Manager to transfer data to and from the computer. Here's a link for the Owners Manual:http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/Rino130_OwnersManual.pdf daryl
thanks for the input. I found my primary hurdle, I found was I did not realize my serial to USB adaptor had software I needed to install. Now that My computer recognizes my Garmin I'm guessing I'll be best off wit the Mapsource or the other one just mentioned (but not basecamp) I'm rally looking forward to exchanging route info with other people. (Like I'm seeing can be done) I skimmed the manual and didnt see much for use outside the device i.e. on the pc but I am guessing now that sort of info is on the software. Thanks again for helping out with my techilliteracy
