Welcome!!! I'm moving to Airdrie soon from SW Calgary also. You, sir, have moved to a GREAT spot for riding!!! You've also picked a CHAMP of a bike!!! I miss my Dakar some days... it just did... EVERYTHING! where2next and I still rip on the bigger bikes out in Waiporous so if you're in for some day tripping let us know. I think I have almost covered every inch of that place and a lot of it pretty good for even big bikes. Knowing the trails that aren't is key... Cheers and welcome again!
I love Hondas, I have a 81 XL that I've been riding for the last 25 years, still runs like a champ. Cant go wrong with a Honda except the horrible reorganization of the dealerships. I use to be able to go anywhere to get parts. Now when I want parts I get to drive to the other end of the earth and have some poopdick at Honda Powerhouse sell me the wrong parts.
Looking forward to it... rode a 450x in San Jose Del Cabo in November, I think it's a great bike for baja.
This week isn't good for me. Probably not for awhile. I have been looking to do a good Offroad trip in the US for awhile now. I have a cube van with a big 4cyl Toyota diesel in it. Gets not bad mileage for having a 16' box. I thought that a 2-3 week trip around the west would be easily affordable and not completely uncomfortable for 3 people. It could be down right cheap if those said 3 people don't need hotels/don't mind drinking cheap booze and passing out in the dirt.
Hmmmmm, just my style.... I'm up at work right now but I have almost all the parts I need for the annual service on my Dakar ordered at Crackfoot. Might be possible depending on what the work gods hold for me in the next few weeks...
The project I'm on should be finishing at the end of May. I'd really like to head back to Nevada, Utah and Arizona. I'm thinking about trying the Alberta section of the TCAT this summer as well.
Definitely going to stop in there for sure. . This time I'm headed aaallllllll the way to the top. The Dempster won't know what hit it.
I saw a newish KLR and a WeeStrom riding together heading south on MacLeod Trail at Heritage yesterday afternoon at about 4:00 pm. Anyone on here? Made me want to turn around and drag the bike out the back alley through the snow and ice to the street. Maybe in another few days if the weather forecast holds. Melt, snow, melt! David
Out with a couple of guys on the trails today... couldn't ask for better conditions for winter riding:
A couple of gals out yesterday on their Harleys in Black Diamond. Kind of salty looking bikes though. Backroads should be perfect about Thursday. Dryish anyway. Worst part is getting out of the neighborhoods.
