Ah, you had a Murrumbateman 'Mumble' go though there? Old fella I knew back in the '70s used to call the storms that when they went through, lotta mumbling - no real conversation to speak of!!! :huh Cheers Baza
Don't know about Dalton, but in Gundaroo we seemed to get less this time than most other places ... About 40mm all up, over the Monday-Tuesday ... All of it light, and little impact on dams ... :-(
I just emptied 70mm from the rain-guage here in Kambah, that's Tues-Wed collection. Got a question for the local collective. The map shows from around Burra one can get onto Woolcare rd via Urila rd., and then back to the Captains Flat rd. Is this all accessible?
No - John D and I tried this a year or so ago - gates - we actually came across a collection of strangely shaped people having a loud and pissy BBQ in their back yard - there was a shotgun resting against a tree stump - we turned around ...
Cheers Hoots, thanks for the advice. There are so many gates now on roads that are named as such on maps, it's a nightmare working out where we are legal and where we are not. Always trying to do the right thing though. PS I still owe you a visit for something I was gunna purchase, I haven't forgotten.
Thanks for the weather report. I just spoke to my neighbour and he said 40mm so looks like that was about the going rate, also cold and windy. Could use a lot more rain but I'm happy to take what I can get, I don't like the lazy wind that goes straight through not around.
It's the squeals that sound a lot like a pig that you have to worry about ... This is the problem bit I think (link to Google Maps): Tinderry NSW 2620 We turned right (from memory) up toward the house, and then turned around quickly when we realised that we'd wandered into the hillbilly picnic from hell ... But Woolcara Ln is accessed by going straight ahead - just a farm track at that point - and I think that gate was locked (and signed 'piss off', or [misspelt] words to effect) ... A bit hazy, and might be worth another look - I'd be keen to try again, but maybe from the Cpts Flat end this time ... ? BTW: that shotgun is every bit as real as a smoked trout pie - we don't make things up for the sake of a good story ...
Jeez Hoots ya got no sense of adventure, coulda just been wedding going on, hence the shotgun leaning against the log, Probably got the ceremony over & getting down to some rightous eating, hillbilly style!!! :eek1 Cheers Baza
It seems that there is a bit of "special horticulture" in the area, lots of locked gates and unwelcoming signs, even the RFS aren't welcome in some places.
Ride Sunday <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o>1/2 day easy ride on Sunday ...</o> <o></o> Meeting at my place (Gundaroo) at 10:00am - heading north of Rye Park, with a late lunch back at Yass ... <o></o> Quiet pace, and suitable to all bikes / riders ... <o></o> PM me if keen and/or need directions to my place ...
Inexplicably I have been given a leave pass for sunday:eek1 but have organised a Tallaganda ride. Got my damper back from Rallemoto, all serviced and ready to go, thank you gentlemen at Rallemoto, now just have to find time to put my WRR back together
I like the orange hammer ... Pretty much the extent of my mechanical skills ... EDIT: I notice I somehow left out the critical 'my' in the original post - hopefully that wasn't misinterpreted ...
I keep a close eye on this thread as I have a block down near Dalton ,Jerrawa but being a shift worker thing don't seem to work out for me. and again this time I'm on nights. Please keep the invites coming it will line up sooner or later.
