You can follow the wiring harness from the kick stand switch up under the seat. You will see the connector with the Green, Green with White stripe, and the Yellow with Black stripe connector. Connect the Green and the Green with White stripe together with your choice of connection. You can use a small jumper wire in the back of the connector, one of those scotch lock crimp on things, or cut and solder the two wires together. The side stand warning light will still work but the bike will still run with the side stand down, in gear, and the clutch released.
My XL500 that got stolen was quite the ordeal. I lived in a townhouse with a parking lot... nothing to chain the bike to. The first time around they popped the steering lock and had the ignition hot, but apparently didn't know the starting drill. I found the bike about a block from my house. I got a new ignition switch installed in it and wrapped a chain through both wheels so you couldnt roll it off. A few mornings later, I got up to go to work and it was gone. No broken bits and pieces in the parking spot like the previous attempt. I think they just lifted it up, tossed it in a truck and hauled it off. I always take solace in the fact that it was a really crappy dirt bike and hopefully maimed someone.
I went for the thirty day check up on the knee job. I took a picture of the new hardware. Kobalt and Chromium bitches. All those little circles are the staples. Yes, it still hurts.
:eek1 Holy shit..... Good to hear it`s helping you though Steve....but you are turning into Steve Austin slowly but surely.... B

Back in the day when I would have a DR visit at Kaiser they would have my file brought in. Now this was about ten years ago or so. It was easily over two inches thick. Now everything is on the computer but if it was still the file it would be at least five inches thick. And it's almost ALL motorcycle related... :eek1 :eek1 Boy oh boy have I made my money back with Kaiser.
I may not have been busy with XRL's but certainly some of their cousins. The Orange one was done after the knee job. http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=22559246&postcount=8948
Your orthopedic surgeon did an excellent job! Keep working hard at physical therapy. You want to get as much range of motion as possible. Spud
Oof... Listen to Spud. Tore my PCL back in May, and I still can't touch my heel to my ass. Didn't do much PT, and now I'm regretting it. Got a fancy CTi brace though...
It can be dealt with but it does limit tight turning("U" turns). I can't lock mine. I might be able to if I forced it but I don't want to take a chance of twisting the tank by forcing the forks against it. Got a link?
