You guys ^^^ are probably right.

I'm leaning toward restoring it as-is. In order to make it more daily-rider friendly, I have an extra hub that matches what's on that 21" front wheel and can get a 19" spare built up and use a 70/30 street/trail tire. I already have a spare rear airhead wheel.

That would give me a nice rider for trips and camping, but the ability to swap into proper offroad wheels when needed.

I have a R60/5 that is stripped and ready to build, and that can be made into my trendy-stylish cafe-scrambler.

Hey guys, sorry another rear suspension question, am in the process of gathering together the bits for my own airhead scrambler type thang using an 83 (twin shock) R100Rs as the doner. How long can I go with the rear shocks before I start running into shaft issues, reliability etc? Standard my rear shocks measure up at about 13"/ 330mm eye to eye. Would an extra inch or two hurt (Said the bishop to the actress.......)? Dont need loads of extra height and its more for looks than anything else

The road Metzelers are ok on the dirt but crap in the mud. Has anybody got any recommendations for dual-purpose tyres that will fit standard R75/5 rims?

if it was me i would cut down the silencers so they only go up to the rear shock and then just weld on a new end cap.

Except that I actually want to run high pipes and either keep the balance pipe or have a 2 into 1 setup

Nice bike, I like the idea of high pipes. Where'd you get those fenders? I've been looking for some bare metal fenders like these for a while but I haven't found any cheap enough or in the states. Throw me a bone?

The mudguards ( fenders) are different. The front one is something I found at a wreckers ( junkyard, breakers) for $5. I patched up the holes and beat out the dents and fitted it. Later found I'd probably wasted a lot of time because the rear is an aftermarket part from Wassell that I paid only $50 for new. It's alloy and came polished and without brackets.

I'm still looking for any advice on dual purpose tyres to fit standard r75/5 rims. The front should be pretty easy but the back has very limited clearance to the driveshaft. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try shinko 705's. Cheap, and a couple sizes for the 18 inch rear to choose. If all else fails, you can always clearance the swingarm by cutting a section out and welding in a dished piece to make room, or heat it up and whack with a large hammer.

People been asking about fenders...I just got these today, from 7metalwest. They are the shiznit! I was going to do my "dirtbike" build with Acerbis fenders, but I am definitely going with these. They look handmade, cause they are. They are very heavy duty and industrial-looking in person. I am very impressed. A full 5" wide.





I need to make an entire new subframe to mount these, but it'll be worth it...

I like that little flare at the end. Nice touch!

The top one is a dutch bike build with help and parts from the Boxertoko.

Those 7metalwest are nice fenders, aren't they? I put a set on my project and am very pleased.
