As a result of this thread I went to 180Km/hr indicated this morning ... Heidenau K60's ... plenty of acceleration from indicated 160km/hr, still accelerating at 180, but I ran out of road.

Normally I don't like high speeds, car or bike I get nervous about the 170km/hr mark, but this morning the bike was stable and felt good, if there was a bit more road I would have pressed on. I was quite comfortable, in fact you could have probably cruised at 180. I don't like the front Heidenau K60 off road, but it seemed fine at the indicated 180, no wobbles or anything disturbing. :clap

I remember that "Bike" magazine in the UK tested the 800 and found its top speed was 127 MPH ... 204 Km/Hr, which is no more than 5 MPH ... 8 Km/Hr down on any of the other big adventure bikes ... until the Ducati Multistrada makes it appearance~ :eek1

Yup. On most modern engines redline is set to tell you that you are wasting time, the power curve has peaked and you might as well shift. Not going to grenade 500 rpm over the line.

Not a comment on your post, just info.

Theory does not take into account actuals against spec such as rim and tire measured size, tach accuracy, speedo accuracy, accuracy of the specs on the gears and sprockets etc etc etc.

Plus sitting my lazy ass at a desk pulling numbers from a spreadsheet is substantially easier than trying to do the same thing at 90 mph on semi knobbies. :lol3

These numbers make sense. When I test rode this bike the first time, I did hit the redline on 4th, at an indicated 110mph. And it got there fast and easy. Of course, a KTM friend of mine scoffed at these numbers and said he hit this 110mph on third gear. And he has a document to prove it: his speeding ticket. Ha!

I get the same high speed wobble running TKC80's. Especially when behind a semi truck or other large vehicle.

When I had the stock Battlewings on I could easily push 100mph with confidence. With knobbies like the TKC80's, not so much.

They did a comparison between F800GS, Kwak Verys and KTM DUKE 690.
They satellite tracked the bike up to 127.3Mph. Did really well against the other bikes to.

126 MPH By gps. Newish TKC's on the back, worn out Anakee on the front.

No wobble, weave, or any other stability issues.

Stock suspension set to standard presets

    I'm 6' 170 lbs.

Standard windshield, no bags on bike.

The only purpose the uncomfortable position of a race bike serves is to keep your chest from becoming a lift inducing sail, and keep more weight over the front.

Good sport riders will tuck even more when going fast to maxamize these effects.

Had I sat up, the bike likely would have gotten light and skitsy in the front, but no issues deeply tucked.

Hopefully no one needs to be reminded that it takes a quarter of a mile to react and stop from this speed :)

Manual says 125 mph, but I'm to fat for that. I can get to 110 ish when necessary, but the front tire is narrow for off road. No shakes or problems...I just prefer to keep it under 90 ish during passsing. I had quite a few bikes and I love this one, but it doesn't feel as well planted at high speed as a true street bike. It will do what you need!

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and the tires that the previous owner had put on are BAKs. Big ass knobbies- This is the first bike I've owned in several years and I'm all kinds of impressed with it. I like the way it rides and handles and it is a freakin rocket. Just twist and go without a lot of noise. I nailed it the other day and just zipped through the gears and it bumped 105 before I backed off. It did seem to wander a bit and I imagine that has a lot to do with the tires. Don't just love them because I probably will do 98% of my riding on pavement. Just like that 21" front wheel in case I have to wander a bit.

125 indicated, 121 GPS. The speedo is consistantly 5 to 4 MPH high. The bike is dead stable at speed.

I just followed a Shelby Cobra for an hour, and had no trouble keeping up. Top speed was around 120mph. I'll post a video later.

The Cobra is about as aerodynamic as a brick. Still, if he wasn't running a 4 cylinder engine in there it should be a lot fast than that. :D

Looking forward to the video! :thumb

Gray is obviously the fastest color ... except for perhaps a custom spray with "take my license red" from your friendly Ducati dealer... :deal

Sounds about right to me. Got up to 200 kph without redlining. Fastest I've got up to on a bike (except for that one time I was 16 as a passenger in a K12 going 240 :eek1 - I don't recommend it).

Got a thing about bridges. Coming back into Surrey from Vancouver after midnight, no traffic ... there's nothing like blasting over the Alex Fraser or Port Mann bridges doing in excess of double the speed limit....no shakes....but I had to calm myself down a bit on the other side~!

What about engine vibration at speed? Some of the reviews I've read/watched say it's pretty noticeable at highway speeds. Just curious how bad people consider it?

The motor is quite smooth at high revs for a thumper. The bike is very stable at top speed.
Just a side note that above 10,000 feet elevation she will only go about 112 mph.
