I had to make a loop over to Lovell and Sweden on the way back from Cornish to take a photo of two friends, one of them is taking over the MGNOC (Moto Guzzi National Owners Club) duties from the other after sixteen years as Maine Rep... didn't know if I could get this one posted in time but we made it. What a gorgeous day for a blast...

250 miles before lunch... yeah... :thumb

Little history lesson today boys and girls....

This is the site of the First English settlement in New England. Not quite visible through the trees in this shot, the Fort across the Bay is seen below....

The _______ ________ was the first organized attempt to establish an English colony on the shores of what we now know as New England. It was planted at the mouth of the Kennebec River in the summer of 1607 and lasted for little over a year until it was abandoned in the fall of 1608.

It was founded a few months later in the same year as its more successful rival, the Jamestown Settlement, which was established on June 14, 1607 by the Virginia Company of London in present-day James City County, Virginia, as the first permanent English settlement in the present United States.

    Hint...

This is Fort________ that can be seen from across the Bay from the site of the settlement, built much later to protect the ship building activity on the river.

I am standing on the site of the __________ ________ looking across the bay toward Fort _________

All right, you should not need more than that but if you do, lemme know....

    Got it!
I'm playing hookey for the next few days, ran onto a lad on a Harley, he's murdercycles.com,
and was collecting state parks for a similar scavenger hunt.

Funniest coincidence, I ran into your HD buddy on the Guzzi board while talking about another subject (Richard Paine collection auction at Owls Head museum in Maine...) I recognisized his handle and mentioned your meeting up with him and you both were on the same type of scavenger hunt... indeed small world made smaller by the 'net...

Okay, YFF, fuel up your beasts for an intergalactic journey!
My namesake, Titania, is not only the Faerie Queen from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream,
Titania is also the third moon circling Uranus.
I felt the irresistible gravitational pull of that planet today, and documented my orbit for you.
We now move from HISTORY to ASTRONOMY all within the borders of the State Ptomaine.

    Tag, you're it!

Yup, I believe in playing fair and not being a hog... as much as I would like to be, give others a shot at once in a bit.

It's only 500 miles round trip but this weekend is not as free as last weekend was.... This is where the whining begins... :rolleyes

Tomorrow AM is the best time slot but that is questionable as to whether there is enough time as I have other obligations later that day. Sunday is out, going to see/hear Stomp at the Merrill. Monday perhaps if no one has snagged it.

Have fun at the Black River Races.... :thumb
