The fences and fees have cut down on the asshats burning pallets and leaving nails for me to find with my expensive tires. That's about all I can say of the place. The surrounding areas look like a landfill. Trash and junk almost non-stop along certain routes.
But, it is close and flat so works as a good place for somebody with my near total lack of skills to practice. I only scared myself a couple of times in the sand this trip.
I haven't seen a Bultaco under it's own power since the shop I was working for stopped selling them back in 1980. :lol3
When we used to go up there before the fee and camp and ride, there always seemed to be a medivac about every few hours or so. Not sure how dirtbikes and stupid mix, but that lakebed sure seemed to be a magnet.
One time a guy in one of those gyro-copters face planted good enough to burn himself up. The first time I was there two kids riding with minimal gear, zero instruction or clues, made this big circle in opposite directions, both looking backwards. head-on collision we could do nothing about but jump on our bikes and head toward the impact zone as it occurred. One broken arm and a few other bits. None of the three kids knew where they were or their parents or their camp in relation to them. Ranger came, and we helped pick up the mess. My friends kids all had I.D. on them with GPS coord's to where camp was and all cell phone numbers. And they never swung a leg over a bike without full gear. Hot or not. And mommy and daddy rode with the kids, not just sitting in camp swilling beer.
We did have our share of crashes thanks to the old hey, watch this thing. Somehow you always get hurt on your last ride of the day. :huh:lol3

They are insulated bottles. It doesn't get hot at all.

I have since removed them, those were just for COBDR. I didn't want to wear a pack for 12 hours a day.

Seing those bottles there make me think of putting some bottles in the panels in front of the tanks.... for emergency.
