Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh Mike. First race of 2014 hasn't happened yet and you are discussing 2015. :lol3

Damn- this off season was WAY too long.

But you're right in that this is going to be an extended silly season with most contracts ending this year.

My best guess is Pedrosa. Though they might give Aleix a spin on the factory bike before making that decision.

I'm thinking if I was Nicky is go looking for some big talking honda exec with a pair of vise grips. Maybe get a little discussion about performance going.

It depends and a lot can change between now and when/if it happens. Aleix may not live up to the potential he's shown so far. The series would be less without Pedrosa on a top level bike. It would be interesting to see Lorenzo and Marquez on the same bike though. But! It's really too far in the future to think about.

    This weekend it will be.

I only follow on social media, but since Pedrosa and Puig have parted ways, Dani has appeared much more happy and at ease. Could translate into good things for him. Either way, it is nice to see him smile and joke and laugh so much.

And it's not just a junky like you and I that have noticed this. My wife said the same thing to me when I was watching an interview during one of the Sepang tests.

She also identified Bautista as "collision guy".:lol3

Am I right in saying everyone bar Aleix & Iannone only used the medium tyre, the one without a coloured stripe.... so that's soft option for factory but medium option for open class?
Aleix & Iannone both set their fastest laps on the open softest tyre.

I loved the VR46 team sky rider doing massive wheelies out of the pitlane and at every opportunity....someone who clearly loves what he's doing.

Talking of loving what you are doing...good to see Jorge back to his petulant self..Leopard & spots springs to mind

What makes you think all of the Open Category riders wouldn't have used the soft tire? I have no data, though.

Here's what Aleix Espargaro had to say...

"We know that we'll be fast in qualifying but it's not important, we need to work on the race distance with the hard tyre in the rear. With the hard tyre we did a great pace even though the track wasn't perfect so I feel good but we need to wait and see."

Looks like the soft is a qualifier at this track.

A quick guide to tires. Bridgestone bring three tires to the track. A soft, a medium and a hard.

The soft and the medium are given to the Open teams, and they refer to the soft as soft and the medium as hard.

The medium and hard are given to the Factory Option teams, and they refer to the medium as soft and the hard as hard.

Just to confuse things further, the soft medium and hard tires are selected from four possible compound / construction families: extra soft, soft, medium, and hard. The three tires are always from three adjacent steps.

Yipes! J.Lo voiced some very bitter sounding comments about Yamaha in a GP1 interview. He doesn't sound like a happy camper at all. OTOH I'm using Google translate and often it obfuscates subtlety and shades of meaning.
