How did it all go with shipping the bike, heard some horror stories with larger containers & rogue customs orificers/dock hands. I take it you made the crate? Looks slick, i like the viewing panels! And yes, that seat does look awesome, i've heard RDL is 1 of the best. Nice bike set up!
It's been a busy few days. We had shipped our bike to Francois at Dual Sport Touring. Francois has been awesome, a huge thank you to him and Megan, they picked us up from our hotel and Francois helped get the bike assembled. http://www.dualsporttouring.com/xlsws_php/index.php?o=startpage Gayle and Andrew met us there and we followed them back to Knoxville (riding on the wrong side of the road) Yesterday was spent getting organized and today we headed to Tellico plains via Tail of the Dragon and Chrohala Skyway. Beautiful country. We found an awesome campsite with cabins in just outside of Tellico catering to motorcycles. http://www.cycleresort.com/ Tomorrow we start the TAT
Phil, Dawn, Andrew and Gayle, What a pleasure it was to meet you guys Wednesday morning at DST as you where getting ready to head out on your journey. My friend Don and I pulled in just as you were dismounting and Don was dropping his Sertao (Dakar) seat to have Eddie (Francois' seat maker) perform his magic. I always feel so blessed to meet such fine adventurers as you all. I wish you a most wonderful journey and safe travel. Look forward to following your post here on ADV. Very best regards, Joe
Hi folks, sorry no photos to post yet until we get a bit more time and a good wi fi connection. We are at the Botel near the Tenneessee/Mississippi border. 2 days of awesome ridding. Had some gear dirt roads 2day. Had 1 go around due to flooding today. Made it to Fayetteville last night including a compulsory tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery. Post some pics soon. Going to call in and visit Sam tomorrow.
have fun and travel safe. i'm in atlanta 5 years now and got no closer than this laptop to tellico!! damn. but alas, there is ADV and we can live thru others until it's our turn haha. ain't life grand? enjoy!!
Ok folks, time for some pics. Official start of the TAT. Corner of highways 68 and 165 Dawn got the job of taking the pic so isnt in the photo. Whit road. A great start to the TAT. One of the river crossings on Whit rd. The notorious 4th crossing. The water level had dropped by the time we got there. A few days before these were impassable Andrew and Gayle in the 4th crossing. We took the very left hand route. A lot of Tenneessee is on pavement but it's still great riding on roads like this Time for bed. Another early rise tomorrow. Hope to complete Mississippi
[/QUOTE] It took me a bit to realize what the RIDE RIGHT sticker ment on your mirror. You are from the other side of the pond!
