Taking the family on a road trip in June. Starting in Louisburg, KS and working our way west to the ferry in B'Ham. Why Kansas? Picking up my new dirtbike hauler from the local dealer: The LunchLady says I can play a little in Moab. That equates to a low-stress stroll through the countryside as Mama don't like heights! Rumor has it Gemini Bridges is an easy but scenic trail ?? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, J

Annie and I were down there last late Sep watching Hacky sucessfully compete to get on the USA GS Challange team. Great place! We plan on returning........ Hacky...... Arches NP......... Canyon Lands NP...... Zion NP...... Monument Valley..... Grand Canyon NP.......
Hey Jack there is snow in that picture..... snow is bad when seeking warmth. In late Sep - early Oct everything is just right. Comfortably warm during the day, cool enough to sleep at nite in a tent.
See! Montana is spoiling you already. Yer gettin wimpy in yer old age. Snow just provides a good, soft bed to sleep on.
Tons and tons of great riding in the Moab area. It will likely be pretty hot in June. Get up super early... hit the trail, then siesta during the hot part of the day... then enjoy the late afternoon/evening colors and temps. Also if you care to escape the heat just head up to the La Sal Mountains or deep into the canyons to find shade... Or just head up the hill into Colorado. The Castleton-Gateway road through Little John Brown Canyon is a nice short cut into some incredible riding between Grand Junction and Telluride and you can find passes that are miles high if you just head further into the big Rockies. There is so much to explore in a 150 mile radius from Moab it'll make yer head spin! Have a blast. Hit me up if you want some recs. CubDriver is down there now with a list of hotspots I gave him. I'm sure he'll share upon return from this recon run. Otherwise I'd be happy to share. There are also the two new plotted and mapped Backcountry Discovery Routes too. One in Utah and one in Colorado. Let me recommend some good eating establishments. We had some great food while we were in Moab. Great fillet with mushrooms at Jeffrey's Steakhouse, awesome scallops at Twisted Sista's Café, fabulous breakfasts at the Eklecticafe (Motomamma's recommendation), and a very pleasant evening at the Desert Bistro. -KM

I was at Moab (Canyonlands) last week. Gemini Bridges is an easy 300 yard walk from the parking area. It's about 9 miles down a pretty good gravel road. Here's some of the guys I was riding with last week standing on Musselman Arch on the White Rim Trail.
