The purpose of today's trip was to buy a '71 CB175 (see: http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=16225&p=124848#p124848). The seller also had this: with a spare engine: It is a 1968? Hodaka Ace 90 -- definitely rough, but for only $75 when you've already spent $46 in fuel to get there, again, how can you say "no"? The handlebars are wrong, they need to be MX-style ones with the cross bar. Engine on it seems stuck, and seller was told by P.O. that it "skipped" in 2nd gear, and it needed bump started, because kicker was broken. Spare engine included, as well an engine gasket kit. I had the same thing happen, almost. I went to pick up an RD 350 parts bike. And the guy also had a Hodaka Road Toad. I paid $350 for the Road Toad, but it's pretty nice. It had no compression, the seller said it just needed a piston. In the end it just had a stuck ring, but the big end bearing was wrecked. I sent the crank out to a guy "Hodaka Dave" and he rebuilt it for I think $150 including parts. Since then I've ridden it a good bit, and it's been fun and reliable. Good for you.
