Ryan next to his MZ Saxon Tour.

It's his birthday today, so he's off work, and we are headed out today on some "country lanes" as he calls them.

Ryan has been converting bicycles to motor power for a couple of years.

He has ridden this one over 2000 miles

this one has an electric front hub mounted motor. I got it up to 27 mph, the gasser is good for 35.:eek1

they are quick handling at that speed.

    Very cool!!

Growing up I always wanted a gas powered bicycle!

One day my parents found a full size tricycle behind an old barn with a electric motor that sits on the front tire. Old farmer gave it to me.

Tinkered on it, put a car battery in the rear basket.

A ton of fun for a 7 year old !!!!

Seriously cool! Look forward to updates.

I've always wanted to go to Key West, but thought I'd sail from Galveston. Hmmm, I'm getting older so I'd better get with it to do sail and moto. (Before anybody says it, even I know I can't ride the bike on the Gulf of Mexico)

I'm at a gas stop in Hillsville, VA on I-77, headed for Charlotte or even SC before I pull over for the night. Got a late start, toodled around the neighborhood with Ryan this morning.

I had the worlds best run down the Skyline drive, got to Front Royal about 2:30, the whole road seemed deserted. 72 degrees, sunshine, no traffic.

    Un-be-lievable!!

Pics tonight after I get off the road.

I pulled off the road in Statesville, NC.

Saw one too many glowing-eyed deer standing on the shoulder. Too close at 80 mph. Time to get a room. Just got back from a walk to the gas station, needed some beers + FOOD!

Started the day with a hangover, and some shiny clean bikes.

What better to do to lose the fog, than try and wash all the real estate on a GS.

Then we rode some dirt forest roads almost immediately, I think it was some kind of joke on me, but I didn't catch on.

    :lol3

Some nice vistas from the bluffs around Huntingdon, PA Sweet "fire roads" as Ryan called them.

    The view

Ryan leaves me with instructions to ride the 22 to the 522 from Tyrone, PA down to Front Royal. Where I can pick up the Skyline Drive on an absolutely stunning day for riding the world.

Then I enter the "shadow of death"..............

Off through Maryland, WV, then into Virginia, for the Skyline Drive!

at last - the entrance to the Skyline Drive! I haven't been here before on a bike, and the last time I was here in a car was 12 years ago.

Yes, EvilClown, I do suck. I thought of you with the warm, sunny weather.

I am fairly certian that I found 3 hours of pure motorcycling nirvana today.

I almost forgot who I was, and where I was going, the riding was so good.

It was such a nice day, this deer didn't even run away when I came to a stop right next to it.
