That shot in the topo IS NOT Skippy's house ..
A few people lived back there.. One fella had an old apple orchard..
We use to walk from Skips' house for about 3 + miles to go shrooming on Pvt property..

The road went past his house .... It didn't end at it...

Herb Lightner was the Sheriff back then..
A good man Herb was ... The best sheriff for the Co. IMHO...
Yes .. But they got dropped...

Yeah land is way OVER priced . Wasn't to bad when we bought our farm back in the 80's .. But sold real high...:D

Back in the 50'-60's BlueGrass was in the National Geographic ...
known as Highland County Virginia's Little Switzerland.....

I think I got figured out where his house was/is.
It shows up with a rusty roof.
It is on another road off Rt 640.
The terrain map seems to indicate that it is a little bit of a valley.
The owner "Fitz" stands for Fitzgerald?
Highland County does not have GIS Maps for property records.
So I can't verify who owns the property at the present time.

Nice write-up on Blue Grass, VA

In that one pic of town ... When we first moved there .
Ya see the grey building on the right .. That was the Merc.Beau Folks owned and ran it then...
Then they sold it ..Byran turned it in to his Woodwright's shop and Kimbles restored the original Merc. across the street..
The Book bank was the old Post office..

This is a village I must visit.
    Befriend the locals.
That bench looks like the place where I would hang out.

    Ahem

I said there are NO good roads in the area.
Gravel in every corner, coal trucks trying to run over you, locals are mean.

We are gonna be knee deep in flatlanders and Yankees if ya ain't careful.

MarkO and Jeff B will back me up on this.

The biggest obstacle will be the packs of slow ass cruisers. The best riding is down in the Smokey Mts.

Yeah, cuz when you get Mark and I together on our slow ass cruisers, the rest of you guys might as well just take naps and wait for us to get out of the way.

BigDadddy, Laconic, Cuttle, and I had to play catch up on the ride to Rella's last year. BgDaddy and I happened to be on our cruisers. We caught up.
