Replacement Mirrors???

I busted a mirror on a recent adventure ride, BMW wants $75 for one mirror. (plus shipping)

I've narrowed it down to two options...

Double Take

Or

Twalcom

Both seem cool... i like the looks of the original, but i think these two options will be better in the long run. I in my "i live in the ghetto, mentality" worry about the Double Take mirrors and theft...

Is there any other options? Any opinions?

Double Take. I love mine. Use locktite, and rough up the inside of the aluminum arms for more secure grab. Lifetime warranty on the mirrors if they break. About $120.00 for two with all the bits. I've crashed hit by thick tree branches, and they just move out of the way. No problem

I have the Twalcom mirrors and they are not top quality but are definitely nice. Been on the bike 6 months and stay in place without much fuss and visibility is good. Definitely worth the low price

with the double-takes you could substitute regular or ny-lock nut for the plastic wingnut to improve theft resistance

I went a different route, I picked up some CGR lane splitters bar end, a friend turned me onto them and said you will have a hard time braking one. Now I thought bar end would be gone the first time out, but I put on a set and wow. Went down a few time right on the mirror and it just folded in really surprised with them.

I've still got a pair of OEM mirrors in the shed.
$50 for both plus shipping from 91335.

Problem there... is I'm still paying $50+ for one mirror... ( i know it is two mirrors, but i only need one)

I'm thinking the Double Take may be the way to go if i don't want to keep buy mirrors...

I was looking again at the Twalcom and they are listed on their website as 225 mm long, which is about 8.86 inches... the OEM mirrors are about 11 inches... so kinda rules them out...

Sometimes spending money on your bike is fun... sometimes it is not... After crashing a few times on my last big trip, i'm thinking it is not so fun paying for stuff you already had but broke.

Definitely Double Take. Aside from the fact that you're not likely to break them, if you do you can replace parts instead of a whole mirror. Also, you can totally fold them out of the way if you're in terrain that requires it. And the reason I bought them in the first place was because of their adjustability. With my stock mirrors (not on my BMW), all I could see was my shoulders. With the medium length RAM arm, the Double Takes extend out significantly further than my stock mirrors did for a nice clear view behind me. Do it, you won't be sorry.

Anyone try the Ebay stock looking mirrors from China? Probably the same manufacturer. They go from $20 pr with free shipping and on up depending on seller. The cheap china turn signals are fantastic, I've bought 8 already for the yellow to white conversion. I want to order the mirrors just to see but I have 2 spare sets already.

I wouldn't buy those....for all sorts of reasons. I keep my bikes forever.
Chinese plastic resin reportedly is such low quality that it will eventually shatter from UV exposure. Internal construction is never the same. The internal construction makes the difference....there is no free lunch. Turn signals from china no problem, mirrors no.

You're right. Not one single part of my BMW's are made in China and put in a fancy box with a beautiful BMW stamp on it at 10x the price.

I've been thinking about getting a pair of Ebay specials myself- the DPO managed to scuff the face-silvering of both mine and they're a bit fuzzy in some lights because of it. I'd nearly prefer if the cheapos just had a normal mirror in, for that reason...
