    Hey TDI fans :lol3,

After going to the auto show, and friend of mine went down to the local VW dealer and is enjoying a 48 test drive with a TDI Golf wagon (6 spd stick :clap).

Anyways, he dragged me out to take a look at it, and I noticed a line item on the window sticker along with freigt/pdi, a very generous documentation fee, and some kind of "nitrogen blue" fee of $299(????), there was this:

    "Extra Dealer Mark-Up: $2700"

Are these cars that popular that dealers are tacking on this kind of premium, or are we just special in my neck of the woods?

I'd guess that the dealer marks it up for the same reason a dog licks his balls.

Yea, this. You could try to work that dealer, but with that attitude I'd move to another. Dealer markup, unless on extremely limited edition / supercars etc is a stupid tax.

I wouldn't even waste your time dicking around with a dealer that will play that game.

There is a pretty good demand for those cars, but we bought my wife's for under invoice from a high volume dealer. I don't know if he'll sell into Canada, but Chris Farnham at Langhorne VW sells them all over the country for less- and he's a nice guy that doesn't BS.

Bought ours from Ernie at Langhorne. Great guy. Took him a day to find the one in the color with the options my wife wanted, but we got ours for under invoice, too.

Bought my 2010 jetty TDI from Chris at langhorne VW, saved 2000 over what the local dealers in Cincinnati were trying to get from me

The availability depends on the area. In ontario, almost all the dealers were at msrp. I got mine for msrp, but got a winter tire package and monster mats "free"

My touareg tdi was 2%above invoice.

Both cars were factory ordered and took 3 months to get. Not sureif this makes a diff...

Here's a pic of the window sticker:

I'm wondering if "Go Green Nitrogen" is for nitrogen-filled tires? For $299? Do you think they'd offer a discount if you asked for plain "air?"

I wouldn't be surprised to see this guy working there:

Tell 'em you don't mind paying the Dealer Mark-up, but the Additional Mark-up? No way. ;-)

That list, with ADM at the top? I wouldn't pay a damn thing on that list.
