The the rectangular plastic cover over my speedometer is cracked needs replacing.

Is this a separate purchase or do I need to buy a whole new dash...?

    thoughts?

Not available separately. :cry CJ made some for a while but stopped. I think the last I checked he would make them if there was enough orders. Best bet is to try to find one from a bike being parted.

Well, this post has renewed my interest in producing affordable replacement lenses.

I'll get started this week to set up test molds and hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have a better idea of how doable my intended process is. My plan is to produce an all plastic clone of the original, not machined metal with a plastic window.

I'll post my progress (or lack thereof) in this thread.

    Cool... Let me know....
I've got clear packing tape holding mine together. Do you have to buy the whole dash if you get it from OEM?

lol - I've got a couple of friends with 950s I think I can borrow the lenses from. I'm a cheap skate, I have yet to find a speedo or tach within my price range. There's one on Ebay for $120 but it's pretty scratched-up and wouldn't buy it if it were pristine.

I haven't put much effort into tracking down the oem mfr, but I bet there's a few boxes of speedo & tach lenses just sitting around a Japanese speedo/instrument company.

How are you guys breaking those lenses? I've had some pretty nasty crashes and done about everything imaginable to that thing and yeah, it's scratched, but never cracked it or anything.

Me, I need the little rubber reset button covers.
I've RTV'd over one of them a couple of times to keep it sealed, but it looks like crap.

I'll try the speedo first but I plan on doing both.

I haven't pulled them off of mine yet but I'm hoping to reuse the originals. I'm looking for similar replacements just in case.
