    Hello there all!

Looooong time lurker, but first time post-er. I figured my first post here had better be good.

Anyways, howdy. My name is Milk. Yes...not a typo. I've been Milk for a long long time.

A little bit of background. I am 38, turning 39 while on this trip (my birthday gift to me....thanks to my lovely wife Kaci). I have been wanting to do a 2 wheeled trip of consequence since I was 18. Back then, I had plans with another friend to fly to Germany, buy Bimmers, ride them across Siberia and sell them to get passage back home. It was far fetched, but we were VERY close to doing it. I have owned several different bikes over the years. I took a 10 year break from riding courtesy of my ex who was anti-me-owning-a-motorcycle. However current wife sold my truck (which I hated) while I was on tour once to buy me a '70 Norton as a path back into riding. She's cool like that. (I sold the Norton a few years back because I didn't have the money to make it what I wanted it to be.)

So fast forward 20 years, 3 kids, and lots of life lived, and I still want to take trips...have planned many over the time, and never gotten there.

    Until now.

Starting this coming Friday, Dean and I will be departing for a trip to Jasper BC, from Mesa AZ (our home).

We have 2 weeks alotted for this trip, with the understanding that if we don't make it all the way, thats ok...just turn around and go on back. After all, it's the trip, not the destination. We are planning on camping most of the way (Dean is a radically experienced outdoorsman...he's the guy who pays people to drop him in the middle of nowhere so he can try and hike out for 2 weeks). We are travelling light. I am the more experienced rider....ok....lets just say it...this will be Dean's first ever riding experience. He bought the bike to travel with me. Never ridden before. Been teaching him since January when he got it.

So it's basically, I keep the bikes alive and running (I'm a respectable shade tree mechanic on bikes), and he keeps us alive and running.

Oh, right. And in the spirit of Run What Ya Brung....we will be travelling on these:

You guys rock, The Buddy is an awesome scooter by all accounts (I have never owned one personally.)

A sheepskin or something may help with the saddle...

As an owner of one of the first '06 Buddy 125's in Denver, I'll be following your escapades with great interest. As a daily commuter, the Buddy can't be beat. I've only put about 8000 miles on mine but never had a single issue. I'm not sure how many hours I could last on that soft saddle but, overall, the bike is pretty comfy if a little cramped.

I also notice that your route includes (or will be very close to) Utah 12. For my money, one of the most amazing stretches of road in the US. Good luck!

We're another with a 2006 Buddy used daily for commuting by my high school student for the last 3 years. Good, reliable and fun scoot, you'll have a blast but you may want to get an Airhawk for the sort of hours in the saddle you have before you.

Over the 4.5 years we've owned the Buddy other than routine maintenance the only repair we've had was when the horn wire came loose from rattling around on the crappy roads around here.

Hahaha....it's because the only complaint I have ever heard about the Buddy is the seat discomfort after a few hours. His Mileage May Vary....
