Well that is it, my last shift just ended. :clap
That means no more work for me for 16 weeks.....uhm well not at my job that is.
A couple of prep days and then I will be on my way.
It feels unreal and I am both anxious and nervous.
Nothing to be scared off yet, but I keep the anxiety-O-meter close by.
Some more bike-prep-stuff photo's coming soon as there are still some things to sort out on the bike.
    Keep you posted....

    Cheers

    Hi,

Well Europe will be done tomorrow, I am now in Kharkiv and will cross the border with Russia tomorrow.
So far so good, no problems with me the bike or with the well known Ukrainian police.

    Some teaser pics:

Just found this thread, will try to read up on you website posts to check your progress over the past (and future) months.
Quick note: if you need a place to stay in Belgium (I doubt it as you'll be smelling your own place when you get here), give me a holler :)
I'm hoping to do a similar trip (though much smaller) next summer, belgium to the black sea in romania (or maybe a bit further till ukraine) and back (details here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=829456) so I could use your stories as reference :)

    Thanks man!!!
Thats the way to help a fellow traveler.
Luckily for me your link is being blocked by the hotel or higher powers I do not know about.
But so far all the Russians I have met seem to have other thoughts about that.
    Keep on helping, my friend

    Cheers

Ignore idiots who just pass along erroneous information. If one person croaks while anywhere near a motorcycle they will condemn and entire continent as dangerous. I mean, how many people got mugged in "safe" US or Western European cities last week? Should we avoid them??

When I told folks I was riding from Germany to Tbilisi, Georgia last month, I was told it was a crazy idea - that I would be eaten by cannibals practically! Well, I did the ride, and except for the fact that the drivers in Georgia ARE insane and unsafe (to put it mildly) I had a great ride. Of course the roads in Georgia are crap and my rear shock strut is now busted but that's because I overloaded the pig....

    Have a great ride.

    Agree with Hendrik above.
I've been in Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, etc etc, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho often (both by bike and car) and nothing happened, despite all the warnings from 'concerned people' (you know them, the type who gives advices based on non-experiences and filthy rich tourists who are mugged... ) nothing happened.

Just use your common sence and be aware. And above all... Enjoy the trip - in every aspect!
