Yep, I don't leave the house before 11am or 50 degrees, whichever comes first.

    Wimp!

I pulled out of Kentucky Sunday Morning at 7:00 a.m. and the temp was 34 degrees!. Three hours later (I still had not stopped) on interstate 70 East the temp was 39 in Zanesville Ohio, that is when the engine let go, pushed the connecting rod on number three through the block.

Sitting there for almost an hour before the wrecker ame, and during that time not one person, bike or car even slowed down.

BMW K1200GT It was the first big trip, and the dealer just gave it a clean bill of health even after I complained about the noise and they said it was nothing to worry about. Sad day

    Question....

Was the dealer in NY State and if so ...? To the East or west of say I 81 ?

No names if you do not want to say so.

Reason I am asking is that I had a similar issue with a GS years ago with an NY State dealer and I am wondering if it is the same organization

I actually took the Bike to two places that were both RIGHT! Hieds told me they thought it was a rod/crank issue. I also stopped at Max's and they thought it was a connecting rod. Buy it went to a dealer in N.C. that had done the warrenty work on it. They said no way. Stated the noise was "Half crank speed noise" (Bullshit) and that the new hydralic cam chain tensioner had failed so they replaced it. Bike still had the noise. They said it was no problem, ride it. So I did. I am jus happy it did not end with me sliding across the interstate or worse.

The Bike is in Maryland now, so whats next............ I am pennyless but not bikeless.

I'll bet that's exactly what Mr. Justice said as he leaned down to inspect the damage on the side of a cold highway... :rofl

I was upset, But in all reality I was happy. after all I was alive, it could have been worse if I had not gotten the clutch pulled in when I did. I checked and my AMA membership was up to date, so they sent a wrecker to get me off the highway at no cost to me. Last but no least my truck was at my sisters in Maryland, and my brother-in-law got in it right away and made the drive (Five hours each way) to rescue me.

And the guy I bought the bike from is going up to maryland to get the bike, and hopefully he is the stand up guy that he has been and makes it right.

Good to hear of all the good that happened. I thought I remembered you having a MD connection. I was born and raised there. No snow in the forecast down there I bet.

Hope he stands by the work needed and your back on the smooth and swift K12GT soon. I ogled that bike for a good many years.

He is a member here, so I hope so too. The rblem existed when I bought the bike. so I hope it works out. It took every penny I had to get this bike. Sold a couple to pay for it.

That gives me some more faith with our NYS dealers. I feel for you though, That sucks having a new to you bike blow up. Great deal you did not go down to add insult to injury.
