It's that time of the year again. Time to start imagining how cold and slippery it will be on January 1, and who-the-heck thought this would be a good idea, anyway??!?

Well, here's the deal: According to tradition, every New Year's Eve (since 1992!) we all stay sober enough to stupidly ride our motorcycles around Manhattan New Year's Day.

    We did it in 2007...

    And 2008...

    And 2009...

    And 2010...

    And 2011...

    And 2012!

So, the plan as lore has passed it down to us:

    * Meet up at Sidewalk cafe at 11 am
    * Sometime around 11, a critical mass of riders will head off on a loop around the city.
    * Folks often come earlier for breakfast. Second breakfasts will also be served after.

    Rain, snow or shine!

Wiseblood and the rest, don't forget that this ride was started by a fellow named "Skull" who wanted it to be motivation for people NOT to party too much on New Year's Eve. And I believe he has led most of the runs, right up to the last one. Rain, shine, sleet or hail....

It is a great tradition. Anyone know how many?

Yeah -- 21 if I'm not mistaken. (In my original post! :deal)

Hopefully SOMEONE will lead so we don't have a replay of 2011. :augie

if i remember right, this year was a lesson in 'filtering' or 'lane splitting' coupled with a touch of hooliganism.

of course i'm in. and since i have the perfect urban assault vehicle this time around - the hooliganism may have to be raised a notch!

In. Great time last year despite (or maybe because of) the difficult traffic situation on the north HH parkway.
