    Hi guys and gals

Tomorrow is departure day on a ride from the Maritimes to Mexico and possibly beyond. It is a trip to the dentist, or at least may well be. Turns out extensive dental work for old guys, long in the tooth is also expensive dental work and I understand there are substantial savings to be had by getting the work done in Mexico......and I don't want to buy my Canadian dentist a new Harley.

Some of you no doubt read my ride report last year, Lobsters to Llamas of my trip from the Canadian Maritimes to Argentina on my Trusty KLR 650.

    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=832336

I want to thank all my readers for taking the time to add to my ride with their comments and input. I really appreciate it and I love to get input while I am out travelling alone.

My plan for this trip is to head south, enjoy the trip along the way, hopefully meet some of you inmates along the way and have fun. Last year I missed my wife's birthday, Christmas, New Year's Valentines Day (I missed a lot) so this year I plan to get down south, find a dentist, get some work done, leave my bike in Texas or Arizona, fly home for my wife, Angele's, Birthday on Dec 8 stay in Canada for Christmas and New Years then fly back south, pickup the bike and resume the adventure. We'll see where it takes me.

Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride. Here is my new KTM 990, in the garage today, mostly packed and ready to go.

I just bought her this Summer and I have 22000 kms on it.

So like I say, welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride, feel free to chime in or drop me a line. My route should take me down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Gulf Coast beyond that I haven't done any route planning except to drop in on a friend, Jody in Port Aransas, TX and another friend, Bud near Houston or if I get there in time at the Terlingua Chili cookoff at the Terlingua Ghost town in Texas.

    Beautiful bike, safe journeys!

As a dentist I can't say that I think it's a good idea getting the work done there tho...

    Hey Kedji
Maybe this year I can buy you dinner along the way in person rather than thru pay pal like last year.
My oldest, Cam, and I leave November 7th to our shack on the beach in Panama.
I will keep tabs on your whereabouts on here and maybe we can hook up a little further south.:norton
Safe travels, hopefully see you soon.

Welcome aboard. I am not sure of the wisdom, I do know however that Algodones Mexico has more dentists per capita than anywhere else in the world and reports here have been encouraging

I'm betting prices in Canada are higher than the USA but 4 implants here are about 20 grand....Yikes!:eek1

Like I say, if I'm buying anyone a new motorcycle, it will be for me and not my dentist.

I'm glad you're along for the ride!

I guess it is a fair trade-off to spent money toward a little adventure and a trip to dentist in Central America that is equivalent to the cost of buying your local dentist a new harley-davidson! :lol3 Only time will tell in the end if it was! :freaky

I went to dentist in 1997 for a clean-up and was told I had two cavities. I hate getting drilled and fill-up so I pushed it off, and beside it was cost prohibitive for me as a college student. When I got a desk job and had dentist coverage insurance, I went back in 2002- anticipating a worst case of two cavities and then who know how much more because of lengthy absence from the dentist.. guess what? Yes, I had ZERO cavity!! :dunno (yes it is the same dentist I have been going to all my life! I literally traveled from DC to NC to get my teeth cleaned)

Good luck with your trip! Subscribed!
