My stator failed at 25,700 miles; it was replace with an ElectroSport Stator by Tom Cutter, aka Rubber Chicken Racing. http://www.rubberchickenracinggarage.com

    Stator: $199.00
    Gasket: $16.02
    Labor: $93.75
    Output at idle: 14.4v
    Result: Priceless! :clap

If you're in the NorthEast, I highly recommend Tom! He's now an OE supplier of ElectroSport Stators http://www.electrosport.com/street-bikes/bmw/f800gs/stator-bmw-f800-02-07.html

    Cheers, M.

PS: He's also an OE Ohlins supplier. He did my fork & shock upgrade last year. They performed flawlessly on the RMAR this summer http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=820184 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNVTKPXZ_8U

Hi All, the new guy here,,,
I was wondering if anybody can explain why the charging system appears to charge stronger at low to med speed, but hit a plateau and then fall at freeway speeds. Just trying to understand all the electronic theory.

that's a known issue with F800 .. voltage output at idle will be higher than at 3k+ rpm. recommended upgrade is MOSFET rectifier/regulator. which still will shunt excess voltage to ground. but will correct voltage output issues.

One thing I have noticed is I don't get near the voltage drop since replacing the stator. I can run heated grips on high, D2 Aux lights and my 90W W&S jacket liner without dropping below 13.5 V. I think I will add the heated pants liner now:evil

Well, it seems it is my turn to suffer from stator maladies. 2010 F800gs, 42K miles. After reading most of the threads about it, I decided on following the procedures Jack (www.roadstercycle.com ) explains on his videos. As many have mentioned, he is very helpful if you reach him by email. He, within minutes, guided me into checking the system and help me find the dark true: fried stator. Of course, Joel, JRwooden and ebrabaek were fundamental in getting it sorted out. Let me know you guys if you come to Costa Rica to get you some drinks.:freaky

Well now that Reaver is invited you'll need a whole support truck just to take all the spares with you. I volunteer to drive it :lol3

Uh, yeah but I left all my certificates at Motorrad when I walked out. :D

Oh Loutre, I just can't stay mad at you. You'll be pissed when I show you the spares I picked up today tho. The support truck will have a trailer on it for Woody's bike. We'll look as sad as Ewan and Boorish......:cry

Sometimes I start doubting that you find all that on the internet, I think you are the head of some kind of bike parts cartel in Canada.

Well if we play Ewan and Charly, may I be Ewans annoying wife that reminds him to shave all the time? :lol3
