    Hmmmm….

Looks like a(nother) gorgeous Christchurch spring day! :clap

    Boomshanka awaits

Wife and son both happily occupied for the day = J for everyone!

Thru the semi dozing Sunday morning streets… - not the 9am departure I had envisaged but 0945 pretty good for me!

Decided to leave the Widder vest at home as I was so warm just getting ready to leave….

Maybe not the best idea in the world but I wasn’t actually cold on the trip just a bit cool at times….

First decent length ride for quite a long time and was thinking about exactly how ride fit I was – expected to have old man’s aches before the day was out.

I have to figure out a way to shoot pics on the fly but until then, you’ll have to put up with a lack of digital media proof of my journey north until this point:

The hills are looking very green – evidence of a wet winter – but the spring so far has been pretty good :clap

    Shaggie,

    Awesome report!!

And just so you know, I already have the sticker ready to claim your island for the Kingdom of Rhode Island... and with that link you provided, now I also have a place to rent a bike.

Now, if only I could find a loyal subject willing to be a tour guide.......

Thanks for sharing a ride report on what has to be the most beautiful place on the planet. Wife was there and still talks about it. Need to do a bike swap-I ride NZ and you can ride the great roads of Texas. All 80,000 miles of bliss. Beside we ride Year Round, you might like that...

    Shaggie,

Beautiful! The bit from Christchurch to Kaikoura was my first experience of New Zealand from the saddle of a rented 1200 GS.

Other than nearly impaling Amy and myself on a bus when I pulled out of a parking lot on the wrong side of the road, we enjoyed every minute of it!

Looking forward to meeting you when we make it down there again!

BTW, if you ever need a host for a tour of the Texas Hill Country, just say the word!

    Hi Shaggie :D

Nice report and pics on what looks to have been a great day! That wasn't Sunday (2 Nov 08) was it? If so, we were up SH1 from ChCh the day before and while it was dry and sunny(ish), a bit further up the road it got pretty interesting :lol3 You certainly picked the right day to go for a "shakedown" cruise.

Catch you on the road sometime:clap

    Cheers :freaky
