Next stop up the West Coast = Dongfang with Basuo Port (large harbour city with seafood trading / trawlers) and the first KFC I have come across on the West Coast and outside of Haikou / Sanya.

Basuo had the POW Camp Hasho, [Basuo Town] on the west coast of Hainan Island during WW2 with Australian and Dutch prisoners.

They still have a prison outside of town today and the prison has huge greenhouses behind to keep the inmates busy I guess, not shown in the prison pics......

After Dongfang cruised up further North to Qizi Bay, unspoilt beach area but who knows what the future brings to this beach...

Nearby is Changhua Port Town, a small fishing village very common along the Hainan coast line.

As my temporary residence is nearby, couldn't resist to cruise once again into the Yinggehai Salt Fields for some off-road riding....

Jialing gets a well deserved oil and filter change at the Sanya downtown authorised Jialing service centre (see post #5 in this thread). Oilfilter shows three little metal flecks, nothing to worrie about.
Before someone asks, my replacement battery arrived by truck from Shanghai a couple of days ago (Jialing LZD and Xiao Fan shipped the battery) but keeping the smaller one installed as of today have not encountered any problems so far.....

Sanya Bay has a heli tour operation now, 1600RMB for 10 min. for a single person (seats 4 incl. pilot), they have two helicopters stationed there. watched the black one taking off and had to laugh as the pilot put on his white gloves like the taxi drivers we have in the cities like Shanghai / Beijing....

Side-note: I have the business card of the Sanya Bay heli tour operation in case anyone needs the contact details.

ps: one of my Sanya contacts mention the other day rental Ferrari / Lamborghini supercars are available for 20000-40000 RMB per day (self-driven) in Sanya as well. Shall double check and report back once I have more details available....

Took the long way around via Yanoda Forest Park, Wushishan, Lingshui to Haitang Bay, great trail riding and good scenery along the way.

Roadside shrines for good luck on the road and herewith temporarily stopping the Sanya - Hainan ride report as my Jialing JH600 ADV cruiser has been washed & cleaned, Ctek battery charger plugged in and bike is securely stored as I am on my way back up to Shanghai right now, unfortunately by plane.
4+ weeks road trip (6000+k's) went by in a flash but the next bike rides are currently in the final planning stages.

    ...to be continued...

Met the Spanish biker group going from Beijing to Madrid while at the Moganshan Lodge (Moganshan Mountains near Hangzhou / Zhejiang) for a long weekend: http://moganshanlodge.com
They picked up some brand-new CJ's to take on the long ride to Europe http://www.beijing-madrid.com
The riders group had a Jialing JH600, BMW GS1200, BMW GS650 beside the CJ sidecars. Some of the CJ bikes had just a tad over 200'ks on the clock, riding Shanghai - Moganshan for the first repairs and pit-stop...

Run to the Great Wall of China and beyond.....

Had a bit of service done to my Italian bike in the Ducati service center Shanghai for some rides in the Northern part of the motherland (greater Beijing region). Shipped the bike up to Beijing early last week with one of our regular trucks as I have done the S-B-S tour quite often and a waste of time (around 5 days for a Shanghai-Beijing-Shanghai round trip in the old days) in my personal opinion. Has been 8 years since I had my own bike in Capital City after selling my bike up here to a mate.

Got a few weeks ahead doing cruising around the greater Beijing mountain regions with the Italian bike and my bicycle (beats the friggin' Beijing traffic anytime)..... Beijing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijing

Track-Day with the Beijing Superbike guys at Goldenport Park Track Beijing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldenport_Park_Circuit

Great BMW bikes.... a BMW HP2 Enduro would be great for the motherland but they hardly come up for sale anymore due to collectors status.

Greater Beijing area has brilliant twisty mountain roads, foggy days during last weekend rides but brilliant riding.
Went out with a few MCM members on Sunday (approx. 340k) and Monday (approx. 240k) with more to come during the next weeks.....

Attached some route screenshots (GPS Tracker) provided by a Monday rider.
