I have a new (to me) SE, and will probably get a HDB dash in the near future and mount some stuff there, but for now I want to mount a powerlet on the bike, probably mostly for heated gear, but maybe for power to charge stuff. I was assuming there's a good spot on the rear plastic bodywork to mount it for heated gear, and maybe a cord to the rear bag for charging? Anyone mount one somewhere similar? wasnt' sure if there's enough room behind the panels for the outlet but figured someone on here has probably done it already. or is there somewhere in the front I could mount the powerlet outlet? I've got a safari tank if that matters...
Lots of room for electricity! On the lower black faces of the headlight assembly I mounted a powerlet on one side and a standard 12v on the other. In the back, on the left side, i put a powerlet right in the v of the rear panel. That way it doesnt stick out and I have had no problems in rain. I use the good powerlets with flip covers. Electric clothing, Gerbings, is better with a round plug that comes from the battery and exits between the seat and my Safari tank. So at your crotch where you can plug in your jaket. In the summer, leave the pigtail under the seat. Dont forget to mount a pair of Rigid LED lights.
